1 Purtop 400 M System Deck SPRAY-APPLIED HYBRID POLYUREA WATERPROOFING SYSTEM FOR BRIDGE DECKS DESCRIPTION AND AREAS OF USE SYSTEM DECK is a polyurea waterproofing system. It is part of the PURTOP SYSTEM range and has CE marking in compliance with ETAG 033 European guidelines ( Liquid applied bridge deck waterproofing kits ). The system is based on the use of two-component, solvent-free hybrid polyurea membrane and the complete system comprises the following products: ADVANTAGES AND PERFORMANCE CHARACTERISTICS ACCORDING TO ETAG 033 Each single product is certified for its inherent performance characteristics and constant production and quality parameters. The actual service conditions of the complete system are certified (high and low temperatures from -20 C to +40 C, freeze/thaw cycles, contact with aggressive chemical agents such as de-icing salts, petrol and diesel). 2 Purtop 400 M System Deck ETAG 033 What is ETAG 033? The European guideline issued by EOTA (European Organisation for Technical Assessment) to test the performance characteristics of liquid waterproofing systems applied directly under asphalt on concrete bridge decks. It is also used as European Assessment Document (EAD). What kind of tests does it prescribe? There are numerous types of tests prescribed by the guideline. They are calibrated according to the actual service conditions of the system and take into consideration stresses on the system while in service and its expected durability. Examples are adhesion strength, shear strength and crack-bridging capacity. Others include the resistance of the membrane to thermal shock, perforation and chemical products. What checks are carried out over the years? An annual inspection is carried out at the manufacturing plant to monitor the production process of each product in the system. 3 APPLICATION PHASE PRODUCT INSTALLATION NOTES Substrate preparation When re-laying surfaces the existing asphalt must be removed until the load-bearing structure is exposed. The substrate is then shot-blasted and all the dust is removed. New substrates must also be shot-blasted to remove cement laitance and open the pores in the surface of the concrete. Levelling off the substrate MAPEGROUT SV / MAPEGROUT LM2K / MAPEFLOOR I QUARTZ 1.9 Uneven areas in the concrete installation bed must be levelled off with cementitious or epoxy mortar. Priming the substrate PRIMER SN + QUARTZ 0.5 Before applying the primer the substrate must be checked to make sure its moisture content is < 4%. Application of the membrane The membrane layer must be at least 2 mm thick. Application of keying primer for the asphalt PURTOP PRIMER BLACK + QUARTZ 1.2 This special primer is applied with a roller or by spray on the clean, dry membrane. Application of the bonding layer and the asphalt The bonding layer for the asphalt must be made from modified bitumen (minimum quantity at least 1 kg/m²) and the asphalt must be a bitumen conglomerate applied at a temperature of at least 160 C.

4 WHICH PRODUCTS ARE USED IN THE SYSTEM? MAPEGROUT SV Rapid-setting and hardening, compensated-shrinkage, easy-flow mortar. It may be fillerized with gravel for repairs larger than 5 cm and there is also a version with added fibres (Mapegrout SV Fiber). IN COMPLIANCE WITH EUROPEAN STANDARD R4 REPAIR MORTAR MAPEGROUT LM2K Two-component, fibre-reinforced, thixotropic cementitious mortar with low modulus of elasticity. May be used for repairs from 3 to 20 mm thick in a single application. Offers excellent adhesion to the substrate and high dimensional stability. IN COMPLIANCE WITH EUROPEAN STANDARD R3 REPAIR MORTAR MAPEFLOOR I 910 Two-component epoxy binder used to make trowel-applied mortar. When mixed with Quartz 1.9 it forms a screed mortar consistency which allows quick repairs to be carried out on substrates. PRIMER SN Two-component fillerized epoxy primer. It is characterised by its capacity for easy impregnation well into the substrate and is easy to apply by trowel, roller or spray. SR SYNTHETIC RESINS B2,0 Bfl-s1 EN Two-component, solvent-free, polyurea membrane applied by spray with a high-pressure, bi-mixer type pump. It is a highly reactive product that becomes waterproof as soon as it is sprayed and is characterised by its excellent mechanical properties. EN IN COMPLIANCE WITH EUROPEAN STANDARD EN (H) PRINCIPLES PI-MC-IR SURFACE PROTECTION SYSTEMS FOR CONCRETE PURTOP PRIMER BLACK One-component primer in solvent, specific for improving adhesion of asphalt on membranes from the Purtop range. It is supplied ready to use, is easy to apply and forms a keying surface between the Purtop 400 M and the modified bitumen bonding layer for the asphalt.
