1 SECTION FURNITURE MOVE & RELOCATION GENERAL PROVISIONS PART 1 - GENERAL 1.1 DESCRIPTION OF WORK A. The Mover shall furnish a Bid to the General Contractors for the series scope of work. B. Provide labor, materials, equipment and all else necessary for Moving and Relocation Services for the South Garland Branch Library in accordance with the Contract Documents. C. The scope includes: 1. Moving existing furniture, library collection and shelving from the existing facility to another facility and to locations in the existing facility as designated on the drawings. Some locations may be temporary in order to coordinate with construction. The Contractor must visit the Library to view extent. 2. Moving the miscellaneous library materials in the existing archives and delivery area to the Lou Huff Recreation Center, 515 E. Ave. B and Hwy 66 in Garland. 1.2 INTRODUCTION A. The Garland Library ( Owner ) is planning to renovate the South Garland Library and move its collection to locations as shown on the plan drawings. Bidders will be required to provide all labor, equipment, materials and all else necessary to complete the relocations as required by the Owner s schedule. 1.3 SCOPE OF WORK A. The relocation items below and on the plan drawings includes the following: 1. Collection (books, audio visual, media,etc) 2. Single and Double Faced Shelving Units 3. Tables 4. Chairs 5. Miscellaneous Furniture 1.4 SITE VISITS AND QUESTIONS A. The mover shall visit the existing facility (4845 Broadway Blvd. Garland TX, 75043) of the proposed work. The mover shall check in with the circulation desk prior to walking through the library. B. Questions shall be addressed to the Architect in written format. 1.5 SUBMITTALS A. Summary of the proposed moving plan, in full detail, together with a complete list of the equipment and methodology to be used including protection of materials. Mover Qualifications: Include a brief background of the company, length of time in business, credentials of principals and a list of projects completed of similar size in the last three (3) years noting the size and type of library collection and the current name, address and telephone number of the Librarian in charge of each. C. Submit the name of the Project Manager and lead supervisors who will be handling the Library move and their resumes. 1.6 QUALITY ASSURANCE A. Mover Qualifications: The mover shall demonstrate experience in moving libraries of a similar size within the last three (3) years. B. Pre Move Conference: 1. The General Contractor will conduct a pre move conference. Comply with requirements in Division 1 Section Project Management and Coordination. Review methods and procedures related to the move and relocation including, but not limited to the following: a. Meet with Owner, Library, Architect, Movers b. Review and discuss the plan and the logistics of the move. c. Review and discuss means of protecting the building and the items being moved. d. Establish the move schedule. e. Review the anticipated levels of staffing. f. Review the on site conditions. g. Review collection moving requirements. 1.7 RESPONSIBILITY A. Movers Responsibility: 1. Supervision: a. Properly manage all employees engaged in the work. b. Provide adequate number of experienced supervisor for all work. c. It is expected that the Movers Project Manager and Lead Supervisors will remain on site for the duration of the move and relocation. d. If for any reason Mover s Project Manager must be absent for any period of time, the Mover must notify the Library Project Representative and designate an individual to act during the absence. e. The Plano Library will take no responsibility for managing or supervising employees of the Movers. f. If notified by the Plano Library that adequate supervision is not being provided, the Mover must immediately provide additional supervision as required to alleviate the problem. g. The Plano Library staff will not be physically involved with the relocation. 2. Conduct of Employees: a. All work shall be performed in a workmanlike and efficient manner by skilled workers with experience in this type of work. b. While on premises, all workers involved are expected to conduct themselves in a professional manner; fraternization with staff or employees of the Plano Library is strictly prohibited. c. All workers engaged in the work are required to be in uniform that clearly designates the name of the company performing the work. FURNITURE MOVE & RELOCATION GENERAL PROVISIONS
3 B. General Contractors Responsibility: 1. Plan, schedule and coordinate all pre-move meetings. Comply with requirements in Division 1 Section Project Management and Coordination. 2. Provide access to the work site during established work hours. 3. Provide dumpsters for debris and garbage where applicable. 4. Provide drawings and room numbering specifications where applicable. C. Owners Responsibility: 1. Provide a designated representative of on-site coordination with supervisory personnel of the Mover and General Contractor. 2. Provide timely and responsive answers to questions and request for information. 1.8 MOVERS A. Available Movers: Subject to compliance with the requirements, movers offering these services may be incorporated into the Work include, but are not limited to, the following: 1. Library Design Systems (Houston) Robert Williams 2. Library Works (972) Ted Rose 3. Move Solutions, Kelly O Neil 4. Suddath Norris M. Lowe PART 2 - PRODUCTS (Not Used) PART 3 - EXECUTION 3.1 PROTECTION OF EXISTING CONDITIONS A. At the beginning and conclusion of the move the Library s Project Representative will conduct a joint walkthrough of the facility. Any damage prior to and after the move will be noted. The mover will be held liable for any damage caused by their employees. B. Protect the floors and walls at entryways and on major pathways. C. The mover shall be responsible for protecting the building to and from where the Library collections and furniture is moved. This includes but not limited to the following: furniture, floors, thresholds, walls, built-ins, door and doorframes, ceilings, sprinkler system and elevator cabs. 3.2 DAMAGES A. The Mover is to exercise all reasonable care and caution in moving all items and will be required to compensate the Garland Library the full replacement value for any items damaged, lost or stolen as a result of negligence on the part of the Mover. The repair of a damaged item is acceptable only if such repair will restore the item to its original condition and will not void any warranties that might be in effect. 3.3 MOVE AND MOVE SCHEDULE FURNITURE MOVE & RELOCATION GENERAL PROVISIONS
4 A. The relocation of furniture and materials will occur during regular hours established by the City of Garland ordinance for job site hours. B. The library prefers that materials be relocated on rolling carts. If another means is used, the mover should explain their methodology. C. The mover will be responsible for maintaining the materials in the proper library numbering order as directed by the Library Representative. D. The mover is responsible for the removal of all debris associated with the relocation. The library facilities are to be left broom clean at the end of the move. 5 SECTION ROLLER SHADES PART 1 - GENERAL 1.1 RELATED DOCUMENTS A. Drawings, specifications and general provisions of the Contract, including General and Supplementary Conditions and Division 1 Specification Sections, apply to this Section. It is the responsibility of the Contractor and all subcontractors to locate information pertaining to required items of work specified or indicated elsewhere in the Contract Documents. 1.2 SUMMARY A. This Section includes roller shades and motorized shade operators. B. Related Sections include the following: 1. Division 5 Section "Ornamental Metal" for custom metal pockets for window treatments fabricated from metal extrusions. 2. Division 6 Section "Miscellaneous Carpentry" for wood blocking and grounds for mounting roller shades and accessories. 1.3 SUBMITTALS A. Product Data: For each type of product indicated. Include styles, material descriptions, construction details, dimensions of individual components and profiles, features, finishes, and operating instructions. B. Shop Drawings: Show location and extent of roller shades. Include elevations, sections, details, and dimensions not shown in Product Data. Show installation details, mountings, attachments to other work, operational clearances, and relationship to adjoining work. C. Coordination Drawings: Reflected ceiling plans, drawn to scale, on which the following items are shown and coordinated with each other, based on input from installers of the items involved: 1. Ceiling suspension system members and attachment to building structure. 2. Ceiling-mounted or penetrating items including light fixtures, air outlets and inlets, speakers, sprinklers, recessed shades, and special moldings at walls, column penetrations, and other junctures of acoustical ceilings with adjoining construction. 3. Shade mounting assembly and attachment. 4. Size and location of access to shade operator, motor, and adjustable components. 5. Minimum Drawing Scale: 1/4 inch = 1 foot (1:48). D. Samples for Verification: 1. Shade Material: Not less than 3 inches (76 mm) square, with specified treatments applied. Mark face of material. E. Window Treatment Schedule: For roller shades. Use same designations indicated on Drawings. F. Maintenance Data: For roller shades to include in maintenance manuals. Include the following: ROLLER SHADES
6 1. Methods for maintaining roller shades and finishes. 2. Precautions about cleaning materials and methods that could be detrimental to fabrics, finishes, and performance. 3. Operating hardware. 1.4 QUALITY ASSURANCE A. Installer Qualifications: Fabricator of products. B. Source Limitations: Obtain roller shades through one source from a single manufacturer. C. Fire-Test-Response Characteristics: Provide roller shade band materials with the fire-test-response characteristics indicated, as determined by testing identical products per test method indicated below by UL or another testing and inspecting agency acceptable to authorities having jurisdiction: 1. Flame-Resistance Ratings: Passes NFPA 701. D. Electrical Components, Devices, and Accessories: Listed and labeled as defined in NFPA 70, Article 100, by a testing agency acceptable to authorities having jurisdiction, and marked for intended use. E. Product Standard: Provide roller shades complying with WCMA A DELIVERY, STORAGE, AND HANDLING A. Deliver shades in factory packages, marked with manufacturer and product name, fire-test-response characteristics, lead-free designation, and location of installation using same designations indicated on Drawings and in a window treatment schedule. 1.6 PROJECT CONDITIONS A. Environmental Limitations: Do not install roller shades until construction and wet and dirty finish work in spaces, including painting, is complete and ambient temperature and humidity conditions are maintained at the levels indicated for Project when occupied for its intended use. B. Field Measurements: Where roller shades are indicated to fit to other construction, verify dimensions of other construction by field measurements before fabrication and indicate measurements on Shop Drawings. Allow clearances for operable glazed units' operation hardware throughout the entire operating range. Notify Architect of discrepancies. Coordinate fabrication schedule with construction progress to avoid delaying the Work. 1.7 EXTRA MATERIALS A. Furnish extra materials described below that match products installed and that are packaged with protective covering for storage and identified with labels describing contents. 1. Rollers Shades: Provide one roll of each type, size, and color roller shade, extra loop bead chain, etc. PART 2 - PRODUCTS ROLLER SHADES

Silent Gliss USA, Inc. 12. SMAutomatic, Inc. 13. Sol-R-Veil. 14. Verosol USA, Inc. B. Shade Band Material: RS-1 PVC-coated fiberglass and polyester blends. 1. Fabric Width: Width of Windows as indicated. 2. Pattern: As selected by Architect from manufacturer s full range 3. Color: As selected by Architect from manufacturer s full range 4. Material Openness Factor: 10%. 5. Bottom Hem: Straight C. Rollers: Electrogalvanized or epoxy primed steel or extruded-aluminum tube of diameter and wall thickness required to support and fit internal components of operating system and the weight and width of shade band material without sagging; designed to be easily removable from support brackets; with manufacturer's standard method for attaching shade material. Provide capacity for one roller shade band per roller, unless otherwise. D. Direction of Roll: Regular, from back of roller. E. Mounting Brackets: Fascia end caps, fabricated from steel finished to match fascia or headbox. F. Fascia: L-shaped, formed-steel sheet or extruded aluminum; long edges returned or rolled; continuous panel concealing front and bottom of shade roller, brackets, and operating hardware and operators; length as indicated; removable design for access. G. Top/Back Cover: L-shaped; material and finish to match fascia; combining with fascia and end caps to form a six-sided headbox enclosure sized to fit shade roller and operating hardware inside. H. Bottom Bar: Steel or extruded aluminum[, with plastic or metal capped ends]. Provide [exposed-toview, external] [concealed, by pocket of shade material, internal]-type bottom bar with concealed weight bar as required for smooth, properly balanced shade operation. I. Valance: [As indicated by manufacturer's designation for style and color] [Style matching hem; as indicated by manufacturer's designation color] [As indicated in a window treatment schedule] <Insert valance style and color>. J. Mounting: Ceiling mounting permitting easy removal and replacement without damaging roller shade or adjacent surfaces and finishes. ROLLER SHADES
8 K. Hold-Down Brackets and Hooks or Pins: Manufacturer's standard for anchoring roller shade bottom in place and keeping shade band material taut. L. Shade Operation: Manual; with continuous-loop bead-chain, clutch, and cord tensioner and bracket lift operator. 1. Position of Clutch Operator: Right side of roller, as determined by hand of user facing shade from inside, unless otherwise indicated. 2. Clutch: Capacity to lift size and weight of shade; sized to fit roller or provide adaptor. 3. Lift-Assist Mechanism: Manufacturer's standard spring assist for balancing roller shade weight and lifting heavy roller shades. 4. Loop Length: Full length of roller shade. 5. Bead Chain: Nickel-plated metal. 6. Cord Tensioner Mounting: Floor. M. Operating Function: Stop and hold shade at any position in ascending or descending travel. 2.2 ROLLER SHADE FABRICATION A. Product Description: Roller shade consisting of a roller, a means of supporting the roller, a flexible sheet or band of material carried by the roller, a means of attaching the material to the roller, a bottom bar, and an operating mechanism that lifts and lowers the shade. B. Concealed Components: Non-corrodible or corrosion-resistant-coated materials. 1. Lifting Mechanism: With permanently lubricated moving parts. C. Unit Sizes: Obtain units fabricated in sizes to fill window and other openings as follows, measured at 74 deg F (23 deg C): 1. Shade Units Installed Outside Jambs: Width and length as indicated, with terminations between shades of end-to-end installations at centerlines of mullion or other defined vertical separations between openings. D. Installation Fasteners: No fewer than two fasteners per bracket, fabricated from metal noncorrosive to shade hardware and adjoining construction; type designed for securing to supporting substrate; and supporting shades and accessories under conditions of normal use. E. Color-Coated Finish: For metal components exposed to view, apply manufacturer's standard baked finish complying with manufacturer's written instructions for surface preparation including pretreatment, application, baking, and minimum dry film thickness. F. Colors of Metal and Plastic Components Exposed to View: As selected by Architect from manufacturer's full range, unless otherwise indicated. PART 3 - EXECUTION 3.1 EXAMINATION A. Examine substrates, areas, and conditions, with Installer present, for compliance with requirements for installation tolerances, operational clearances, accurate locations of connections to building electrical system, and other conditions affecting performance. 1. Proceed with installation only after unsatisfactory conditions have been corrected. ROLLER SHADES
9 3.2 ROLLER SHADE INSTALLATION A. Install roller shades level, plumb, and aligned with adjacent units according to manufacturer's written instructions, and located so shade band is not closer than 2 inches (50 mm) to interior face of glass. Allow clearances for window operation hardware. 3.3 ADJUSTING A. Adjust and balance roller shades to operate smoothly, easily, safely, and free from binding or malfunction throughout entire operational range. 3.4 CLEANING AND PROTECTION A. Clean roller shade surfaces after installation, according to manufacturer's written instructions. B. Provide final protection and maintain conditions, in a manner acceptable to manufacturer and Installer, that ensure that roller shades are without damage or deterioration at time of Substantial Completion. C. Replace damaged roller shades that cannot be repaired, in a manner approved by Architect, before time of Substantial Completion. 3.5 DEMONSTRATION A. Engage a factory-authorized service representative to train Owner's maintenance personnel to adjust, operate, and maintain roller shades. Refer to Division 1 Section Demonstration and Training."
