2 PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE Currently dissertator for a Ph.D. degree and Research Assistant at the University of Wisconsin Madison. Teaching Assistant for Biometry course (Forestry major) at the Department of Forest and Wildlife Ecology University of Wisconsin Madison. Responsible for all the labs; Taught 5 lectures total during the semester; Responsible for equipment distribution and maintenance; Helped with 3 day length Field trip. Teaching Assistant at the Forestry Summer Camp at Kemp Natural Resource Station ( Camp is part of the forestry degree at the Department of Forest and Wildlife Ecology University of Wisconsin Madison. Monitoring and guidance of students throughout the course length with field work, learning, and evaluation activities Researcher for the Fire Lab at the Instituto Superior de Agronomia - Forestry Department in Lisbon, working with remote sensing and fire ecology (January 2009 July 2010) ArcGIS (ESRI) Trainer at Geo Point Academy - Rua Rosa Araújo, Lisbon, Portugal ( Provided technical support and translation for an independent, strategic study designed to provide a comprehensive review of fire protection capability in Portugal commissioned by Grupo Portucel- Soporcel (GPS). As the primary interpreter for the review, translated key fire planning and policy documents, supported interviews of state and private actors, and accompanied visits to field offices and fire command posts with the US based consultants conducting the study. (May to August) Grant awarded from Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation, Lisbon, Portugal at the Joint Research Center - Institute for Environment and Sustainability - Natural Hazards Unit, for two months. Research involved using of remote sensing to monitor the vegetation regeneration after large fires in southern Europe. A protocol between JRC and ISA was born from this internship that continues. 10 month grant awarded from Forest Engineer Department of the Technical University of Lisbon. Research involved modeling and inventory methodologies of forest resources in Portugal and contributed to my research for my master thesis. International Forestry Work camp in the German Forest Office of Kastellaun, (August) Tended plantations and young stands of natural regeneration works; selected and pruned elite trees; marking trees for thinning and calculation; and reforestation planning. Summer internship at pulp company Stora Enso Celbi in Óbidos, Quinta do Furadouro, conducting Forest Inventory and working at the Tree Nursery. 2
