Dear Mayor Eke: Thank you for your recent correspondence, and for our ongoing working relationship which NHS holds in high value. Regarding the issues you have raised, I offer the following replies, copying Regional Chair Burroughs, Mayor Luciani of Thorold, and Mayor McMullen of St. Catharines. A) Regarding your suggestion to change the name of the St. Catharines site to reflect the other municipalities who contributed to local share. We feel empathy that you perceive the current name excludes your municipality. I can assure you this was not the intention, and the current name was meant to reflect the location of the site, not the contribution of the City of St. Catharines. At this time we will review whether there is any chance of naming the site by way of the generosity of a donor, and if this is not possible we will within 6 months revisit the naming issue. We will keep you informed as these discussions progress. 2. Regarding the plaque honouring the municipal partners' contributions to the site, which were indeed significant, the plaque in question has been in place for many months immediately on the right hand side when one enters the new site. If you would like a tour or to otherwise organize something to again recognize the contribution and the site, I would be happy to work with you and our other partners on this. 3. Regarding your request to have an update at Council regarding the management of the hospitals, we have agreed to do so annually at Regional Council. In addition, in late Spring we will forward our annual report to all our partners, and if you feel there is still a need for a presentation, we can certainly discuss this when we next meet. I hope on behalf of NHS this goes some way in addressing outstanding issues, and as always I am happy to meet with you to discuss these and any other issues at your convenience. Sincerely, Brady Brady Wood Chief Communications and External Relations Officer Niagara Health System cell

We strongly oppose this as it will depreciate our home values and change the atmosphere of our neighborhood forever. Our home was purchased fifteen years ago with the understanding that it would be residential and not for commercial uses and we are disappointed that this matter has even arisen. As seniors, we anticipated a quiet, restful retirement and hope this proposed law will not be approved. Jerry & Emeria Savara 37 Stevens Drive Niagara-on-the-Green

The development had the feel of a well planned community. A quiet place where we could live out our final years. Then came the out of control student noise problem that was partially solved by Council. Now a rental plan is about to exacerbate the problem. I believe that weekly or monthly rentals will turn this community into a noisy ghetto. Please rethink this new Cottage Designation Zone. K. Sutherland coachs@sympatico.ca

Points of interest to municipal governments include: The Budget did not contain any new long-term commitments to support public housing. $305 million over five years to support broadband in rural, northern, and remote communities to connect residents and businesses. Re-committed to the Building Canada Fund (BCF) and the importance of the federal Gas Tax Fund. The federal government noted that this fund would be in place by March 31, 2014 and it would continue to consult on the BCF parameters with stakeholders including the Federation of Canadian Municipalities. AMO staff are examining the Budget papers for any additional items of interest and will communicate them to members as needed. 11 Dave Eke Lord Mayor Niagara on the Lake February 7, 2014 RE: Letter from Lord Mayor Dave Eke - GO Transit Expansion to Niagara Dear Mr. Eke, Thank you so much for reaching out to the Green Party of Ontario and myself, the Green candidate in the Niagara Falls Feb 13 by-election. The Green Party of Ontario realizes the urgent need to expand GO service in Ontario. In Niagara, we support expanding to daily GO Train commuter service. Improving transit will spur economic growth in the region as well as reducing gridlock and shorten commute times. Paying for these services will require new, dedicated sources of revenue. We support finding innovative tools that will provide dedicated revenue streams to fund public transit. We need cooperation between all levels of government to produce solutions to get our economy moving again. The Green Party of Ontario wants an honest conversation on funding transit; and challenges the other parties to do the same. Ontario must make it a priority to focus on building a modern, world-class transit network that connects people and communities across the province. Transit is good for our economy, environment and quality of life. Regards, Clarke Bitter Niagara Candidate Green Party of Ontario
