4 POWERED BY WATER LEAF WATER Leaf Water systems developed by Loccioni Energy Technologies have been designed to produce electric energy by utilising the water flow power of already existing water paths. The careful functional and design planning guarantees a more restrained impact respect to bigger hydroelectric plants and the installation of Leaf Water systems contributes to the regulation and retention of the rapid flow water bodies, thus efficiently contributing to territory safeguard and defence. 7 POWER GENERATION Variable RPM generation systems, in particular the ones based on permanent magnets (MP), represent an evolution, if compared with the traditional systems mainly in the micro and mini hydroelectric applications (<500 kw). Permanent magnet generators installed on the Leaf Water systems are synchronous and brushless (without frictional contacts) and they are composed of: permanent magnet rotor, activated by the turbine and realized with high-quality magnets high poles wound stator getting energy from the rotor by electromagnetic induction The electric power developed in the stators windings is collected by the activation device, checking the generator in terms of speed and after electronically transformed by the generation device, so to obtain a three phase voltage synchronized with the network (or with the load). In this way the generator is electronically decoupled from the load, with the possibility to modify the turbine working speed without affecting the electric frequency generated. This aspect makes the Leaf Water particularly efficient, above all when it is necessary to automatically set up the turbine speed according to the hydraulic flow, so to maintain the system efficiency at very high levels. The generators installed on the Leaf Water systems also allow the off-grid functioning, required in case of operation without electrical network.
