5 WATER AND SEWERAGE Review Beginning with September 2014 ANRE will have the competences in regulating, controlling and monitoring water and sewerage services. 6 Electricity Review Moldova is almost entirely dependent on imports of natural gas for the production of electricity, or electricity imports from Ukraine. There are three distribution system operators and public suppliers active in Moldova RED Nord, RED Nord-Vest and RED Union Fenosa, one transmission system operator - Moldelectrica Data Electricity Production GWh GWh Net Imports GWh GWh GWh Total Electricity supplied GWh GWh Challenges - Implement the Energy Strategy of the Republic of Moldova Create an efficient energy complex to ensure the country's energy security, modernization of energy infrastructure and integration into the European energy market.
7 District heating supply Review The public services of the centralized heat supply through the during 2013 were provided by 14 operators performing the nominated service in municipalities and cities Data District heating Production thousands Gcal thousands Gcal Losses thousands Gcal thousands Gcal Total thermal power supplied thousands Gcal thousands Gcal Challenges Heat will be supplied by the company created after the merger of 2 cogeneration companies and the distribution company. This mark the preparation for the new winter season and in the same time the management of the new concern.
8 Natural gas Review Republic of Moldova depends in proportion of 99% on imported energy resources, geographically lies between two neighboring states that extract energy resources but doesn t cover their needs. 9 Renewable Energy Review Moldova has relatively little potential for renewable energy sources. Hydro, solar, wind and other resources are estimated at about 2.7 mtoe. At the same time, using the available renewable energy sources could alleviate the high energy dependency of the country. The large majority of renewable energy consumed in the country is biomass used for heating. It will replace the existing Law from Furthermore, the draft Law intends to comprehensively transpose requirements from Directive 2009/28/EC for the electricity, heating, cooling and transport sectors.
10 OIL PRODUCTS MARKET Review The market is aimed at creating favorable conditions on domestic petroleum market supply the consumer with quality petroleum products, development of fair competition and the protection of the rights and legitimate interests of the consumer.
