FIRST AID MEASURES Inhalation If inhaled, immediately move to area with fresh air. Get medical attention if respiratory irritation develops or if breathing becomes difficult. Apply Oxygen or artificial respiration if required. Skin Wash with soap and water. Get medical attention if irritation persists. Material will become slippery and swell on contact with water. Brush away excess chemical and remove contaminated clothing. Eyes In case of contact, immediately flush eyes with plenty of water for at least 15 minutes and get medical attention if irritation persists. Remove any contact lenses to ensure thorough flushing. Launder contaminated clothing before reuse. Storage Information Store away from oxidizers. Store in sealed containers in a cool, dry location away from heat and sunlight. Product has a shelf life of 12 months. EXERCISE CAUTION Static charges generated by emptying package in or near flammable vapors may cause flash fire. May form flammable dustair mixtures. Avoid ignition sources such as sparks and flame. Ground all equipment. In addition, when emptying bags where flammable vapors may be present, blanket vessel with inert gas, ground operator, and pour material slowly into conductive, grounded chute. For bulk bags of 1000 kg or greater a grounding cable must be attached to the bag ground connection. 8. EXPOSURE CONTROLS / PERSONAL PROTECTION Engineering Controls Use in a well-ventilated area. Excess intake of guar gum may result in nausea, flatulence, abdominal cramps, and diarrhea. Guar gum readily absorbs water and swells, and should thus not be ingested as a dry powder since it could cause esophageal obstruction as a result of swelling up in the esophagus rather than the stomach, causing choking or even rupture of the esophagus. Inhaling dust may cause mild irritation of upper respiratory tract. Raw guar contains natural proteins that can cause allergic reactions such as asthma and rhinitis, and may cause sensitization. Processed guar, such as this product, contains far less protein and therefore has a lower risk of sensitization.
