3 Warning: Harvard University Study Reveals 6,500 cases of rectal cancer Reported about clean water and 4,200 cases of bladder cancer laws being neglected in the US each year Arsenic found in most water: tests show that most tap water contains arsenic, barium, lead, manganese and other chemicals at concentrations federal regulators say could contribute to cancer and damage the kidneys and nervous system. Chlorinated drinking water has been linked to small increases in the rates of rectal and bladder cancer in a new analysis by researchers at Harvard University and the Medical College of Wisconsin. Pet Lovers: Don t Put Them at Risk The findings, reported today in The American Journal of Public Health, are drawn from a combination of 10 previous studies. A dog s eyes, nose and ears are more sensitive than a human s and can be more susceptible to the effects of chlorine and disinfectants in your tap water. Using statistical methods, the researchers found that the slightly higher rates of the two cancers seemed to correlate with the amount of byproducts produced by chlorinated water.
