Describe your Drinking-Water System Raw water from Lake Erie is pre-chlorinated for zebra mussel control with sodium hypochlorite at the Port Maitland pumping station and pumped to the Dunnville Water Treatment Plant (WTP) and industries at Port Maitland. There is a second intake located in the Grand River, which can be utilized during an emergency. Aluminum Sulphate (Alum) is added during the treatment process as a coagulant. Water flows to two (2) settling basins where floc particles settle out. The settled water then enters one of five (5) dual-media filters containing sand and Granular Activated Carbon (GAC). Post filtration, the water is chlorinated with sodium hypochlorite to provide adequate disinfection prior to entering Dunnville s water distribution system. The Dunnville distribution system utilizes a standpipe for storage and to maintain water pressure. The Dunnville water system also has a bulk water depot. The system is owned by Haldimand County. Veolia Water Canada is contracted to operate and maintain the Dunnville WTP, Port Maitland Pumping Station, Dunnville standpipe and the trunk raw watermains. Haldimand County is responsible for the operation and maintenance of the distribution system, including the bulk water depot. List all water treatment chemicals used over this reporting period Sodium Hypochlorite and Aluminum Sulphate Page 2 of 7
