13 OFG s Green Goals Environmental Sustainability We incorporate energy efficiencies and environmentally responsible actions into every aspect of our business. While we ve made some good progress, we know there s still a lot of opportunity and we re committed to do more. To help focus our efforts, we ve established measurable green goals that support achieving our 3 aspirational goals. Overwaitea Food Group OFG s Green Goals 1. Sell eco-friendly 1. Sell eco-friendly products Corporate Responsibility Framework 90% of product mix eco-friendly by 2010 Giving PECE a Chance! 90% of product mix eco-friendly by Eliminate Waste 2. Eliminate Waste Recycle 100% of cardboard, organics and plastics by 2008 Reduce solid waste by 20% by 2010 Reduce water usage by 20% by 2010 Increase WF eco-friendly options by xx% by 2010 (awaiting final target) Recycle 100% of cardboard, organics and plastics by 3. Use 100% renewable energy Existing stores 25% more efficient by New stores 30% more efficient than benchmark stores Reduce solid waste by 20% by 2010 Eco-Friendly Products We work with our suppliers to bring eco-friendly and local products to consumers. Over 90% of the products we sell in our stores are recyclable. Our Western Family team works hard to develop innovative products which are grown locally or made from recyclable or compostable materials. Over 2,000 Western Family products create value for our customers while minimizing the impact our resources. A great example is our Western Family Potting Soil, which is produced with compost made from organics and recycled cardboard from our stores. We proudly promote responsibility for the full lifecycle of our Western Family products and this product packaging is returnable to any Changes Recycling Centre. Reduce water usage by 20% by Use 100% renewable energy Existing stores 25% more efficient by 2014 Zero waste We ve created a culture of accountability when it comes to conserving environmental resources. Over the last two decades, sustainable practices have become a way of life at OFG. Our customers have been bringing their plastic bags into our stores to be recycled for years and, since 2007, they ve received Save-On-More points as an incentive. Since 2005, we ve sold over half a million reusable shopping bags, which are made from non-toxic material and are recyclable, reusable and safe for the environment. New stores 30% more efficient than benchmark stores 100% renewable energy Our award ard winning energy conservation initiatives are a key part of our vision for sustainability. Measures we take include upgrading our stores with energy efficient lighting, heat reclaim systems and installing building automation systems that adjust lighting, heating and cooling based on occupancy. For example, our Coal Harbour Urban Fare store is geothermal and heats the entire high-rise building above it.
