12 Sustainability Strategic Plan Mission The Office of Campus Sustainability, campus stakeholders, and community partners collectively undertake the implementation of environmental excellence within facility operations, design and construction, innovation, scholarly activities, campus programs, community and K-12 outreach, as well as other initiatives serving the campus community.

14 Sustainability Goals: One Establish a campus-wide waste reduction initiative that encompasses reduction and reuse of materials while increasing the diversion rate to 60% of recyclables kept out of traditional waste solutions by Establish environmentally-friendly purchasing policies, procedures, and end-of-life processes.

15 Sustainability Goals: TWO Reduce greenhouse gas emissions from Wayne State University by 25% below 2014 average levels. Establish a multi-pronged plan for energy innovation, energy conservation measures, alternative energy and reducing the University s carbon footprint.

16 Sustainability Goals: THREE Increase programs and opportunities of awareness related to alternative transportation options that encourage use of energy efficient vehicles, reduce vehicle usage, emissions, and expand awareness of impacts related to transportation.

17 Sustainability Goals: FOUR Increase sustainable food practices of campus foodservice operations through local sourcing of whole, fresh, and/or organic foods; achieve reductions in food and food-related energy waste; and increase student opportunities to learn about food, nutrition, and sustainability and their intersection.
