3 MTS APPRENTICE PLEDGE MTS TRAINER PLEDGE MTS Apprentices must comply with the following codes of conduct as they complete their apprenticeship over the two year period. MTS Apprentices are to be people of a 1 Timothy 3 character, that is, bearing the characteristics that Paul outlines in his first letter to Timothy: Now the overseer must be above reproach, the husband of but one wife, temperate, self-controlled, respectable, hospitable, able to teach, not given to drunkenness, not violent but gentle, not quarrelsome, not a love of money. He must manage his own family well and see that his children obey him with proper respect. (If anyone does not know how to manage his own family, how can he take care of God s church?) He must not be a recent convert, or he may be conceited and fall under the same judgement as the devil. He must also have a good reputation with outsiders, so that he will not fall into disgrace and into the devil s trap. 1 Timothy 3:2-7 The MTS Apprentice must: Choose a trainer and be trained under an experienced ministry trainer Attend all relevant MTS Training Days Attend a MTS Recruiting Conference in their region Attend the G8 National Apprentice Conference, held in June annually Attendance at the MTS National Apprentice Graduation and Commissioning is not compulsory but strongly encouraged. MTS Trainers must comply with the following codes of conduct as they train their apprentices over the two year period: MTS Trainers must train in accordance with an MTS approved curriculum as outlined in the Pathways Booklet. MTS ensures the curriculum will meet Fair Work Australia regulations and training under this curriculum allows the apprentice religious practitioner tax rulings. MTS Trainers provide training by example (allowing their apprentices to watch them in action), by giving their apprentices responsibility and providing regular and thoughtful feedback (both good and bad) and through formal training. Working with the MTS Apprentice, s must be developed each term. MTS Trainers must meet with their apprentices regularly to provide feedback, address development needs and formal training. MTS Trainers must attend the MTS Recruiting Conference as well as attend MTS Training Days in their region. This allows the Trainer to understand and support their Apprentice, and also benefit from the lessons of other trainers. The MTS Trainer must be somebody who models godliness in ministry and life to their apprentice. They must be a person who provides guidance, encouragement and feedback to their apprentice in all circumstances. The MTS Trainer needs to provide a workplace with fair employment conditions, ensuing that the MTS Apprentice and the Training Centre comply with Fair Work Australia and the Australian Taxation Office rulings. I have read and understand my responsibilities as an MTS trainer and will adhere to these during the two years of training a ministry apprentice. In order to comply with Fair Work Australia and other government bodies, the MTS Apprentice must: Be trained in accordance with an MTS approved curriculum Hold a commissioning service and be recognized in their training centre as a person of authority and responsibility in both biblical teaching and church conduct. Complete the Qualitative Assessment Survey every six months. This can be found on the MTS Website. I have read and understand my responsibilities as an MTS Apprentice and will adhere to these during the two years of training as a ministry apprentice. Signature Date Signature Date 4 5
