1 The Dubois County Soil and Water Conservation District is seeking an energetic, organized person to survey and design conservation practices such as WASCoBs and HUAPs. Will lead SWCD survey team, monitor installation of conservation practices, and provide soil conservation information to customers. Must have a degree from an accredited college in physical, environmental, or earth science, applicable technical land survey experience; be proficient with computers and ARC GIS software. Ability to work either indoors or out, in all weather conditions; long periods of walking and lifting are possible. Background check and drug screening required. Position or Job Purpose: Provides technical support to the Dubois County Soil and Water Conservation District in carrying out the SWCD's program in conformance with the purpose of the SWCD as defined in the Indiana District Law (IC 14-32). This professional position requires technical knowledge and/or work experience in agricultural and urban soil conservation measures, and natural resources management. The Resource Specialist serves as an engineer, surveying and designing conservation measures. 3. Serves as an active member of the Conservation Delivery Team of the USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS), ISDA Division of Soil Conservation, and other Soil and Water Conservation District (SWCD) engineering personnel, and surveys, designs, and approves installation of conservation practices. 60% Leads Dubois County SWCD survey team. Provides soil conservation information and assistance for agricultural, residential and/or commercial development. -1-

Works in conjunction with the Indiana Department of Environmental Management in implementing the state's Stormwater and Sediment Control Programs (Rule 5; Rule 13; and MS4 s), and works in cooperation with local Stormwater Boards 3. Explains planning and application of conservation practices and how they improve soil and water quality to landusers and other interested audiences through field visits and correspondance. 4. Advises landusers about programs available to provide technical and financial assistance for applying and maintaining conservation practices on their land 5. Responsible for tracking, maintaining, and reporting on conservation workload using spreadsheets and written reports. 6. Assists with SWCD grant funded programs and projects. 20% 10% 10% 10% 10% Assists in coordinating technical tours, workshops, and programs, including educational programs, for land users interested in improving soil, water and related natural resources. Seeks cooperation and collaboration with Purdue CES and other conservation partners in planning and implementing these events. 7. Assists County Weed board in technical advisory capacity 10% 8. Essential Job Specifications/Qualifications: Education Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited university or college in physical, environmental, or earth science, and applicable experience in soil and water conservation technical methods Experience & Work History Minimum two years experience with conservation practices, farming practices, land surveying, design using computer programs. Required Skills Experience with using land surveying equipment. Ability to interpret maps, charts, and graphs. Competent with computer use for practice design and word processing. Special Working Conditions & Environment This is a full time, professional position of Dubois County, and is eligible for all benefits for full time employees as stated in the Dubois County Employee Handbook. Normal work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM Monday through Friday. Limited attendance at night meetings and some evening and weekend activities will be necessary. The incumbent will be subject to a 90-day probation period. Upon successful completion of the probation period, the Executive Director will provide the incumbent with a performance appraisal at least once per year after that date. Performance shall be measured against duties set forth in this job description and the manner in which they are performed (quantity, quality of work, and timelines). The Supervisors may seek input from other staff in performing this appraisal, but the Supervisors have final authority on decisions relative to performance appraisals and personnel actions. It is to be understood that the Dubois County Soil and Water Conservation District Supervisors have the right to review and update the job description whenever deemed necessary License Requirement/ Certifications A valid Indiana driver s license and safe driving record is required. Must qualify for inclusion on SWCD auto insurance policy. Must be able to pass USDA Background Security Clearance within 90 days of hire. Willing to attend periodic conferences, workshops, and training programs to maintain awareness of current conservation issues. Some training programs may involve evening or overnight travel -3-
