2 Who are we? The British Training Board (TBTB) is the UK s only military skills translation service. It works with a range of accredited awarding bodies to create efficient mechanisms for individuals to gain full credit for training they have completed in the military, which can be translated into qualifications recognised in civilian life by potential employers. Some qualifications can easily be transferred without additional work. An exam or recorded discussion is required in some instances, but the system means individuals avoid having to repeat many weeks or months of training they have already completed. With TBTB, you can receive credit for the skills and experience you already have, whatever your background, eliminating the need to complete unnecessary training.

3 Your Skills Translator We have 3 pathways available to service personnel Serving Pathway is to ensure that a military course is accredited at the point of completion, this can improves retention by allowing the service person to understand the worth of the military funding and resources available for training, They can become civilian qualified concurrently with their military career often by using funding which the services provides. We compliment the good work other agencies do. We achieve this by career coaching individuals to manage their expectations and using our various schemes to help the service leaver to gain qualifications which employers are looking for. Our work with veterans has been recognised by The MOD and other agencies. We work with employers to show the value of Veterans and encourage them to tap into this pool of untapped potential.

4 What Happens Next How does it work? There is a small fee of 30 to register. This gives you a one to one coaching session with one of our Regional Training Managers (RTM s). This is to find out what you have done so far in your military career, and where you want to be in the future. Your Skills Translated From the session with the RTM, a coaching and career plan is established. You will then be required to send us all your certificates, Reports and any other documents that are in any way related you your development over the years. Your Skills Translator Offer All the documents you send us are maintained securely and processed by our team. They are entered into our Skills Translator software and an Offer is produced. This is bespoke to you as an individual, this offer is based on the information we enter into the Skills Translator. Your offer is then verified by an expert to ensure it is the best for your skill set, this includes a check from the information gained during the one to one session with your RTM. Pathway You are then placed on the appropriate pathway and mentored and coached throughout the process.

5 Once you have accepted your offer, you will attend one of our Armed Forces Community Academy s. This is usually your final stage. Here we Quality Assure your qualifications. This is an important part of the process as it teaches you to speak a different language i.e. Civvy. The AFCA s are run by The British Training Board. We work with specialist training providers to deliver our products and services. The AFCA (for Transition/Veteran Pathway clients) lasts between 2 and 4 days (depending on the Qualifications required) during this time you are assessed on the civilian qualifications and also given direction to assist you with the civilian terminology.
