1 A STUDY ON THE EMPLOYEES RELATIONS IN WAREHOUSES OF COIMBATORE DISTRICK Dr.G.VIGNESH 1 R.GOMATHI SELVI 2 1 Head and Assistant Professor of PG Department of Commerce with International Business, NGM College Pollachi. 2 Student of PG Department of Commerce with International Business, NGM College Pollachi. ABSTRACT The principal objective of the study was to investigate the relationship between the employees and dimensional factors of architectures of data warehouse (DW), or more specifically, to suggest beeter ways to carry out warehouse mechanism for best way in future of the architectures and a number of factors, which are believed to influence their selection. A questionnaire survey, which targeted the information for collecting the worker of warehouse. The terminology of Warehouse concept is discussed very briefly in order to get an idea of all the operations performed in the warehouse and the technological advances performed in the warehouse and the technological advances available. Keywords: Architectures, Investigate, Data Warehouse (DW). INTRODUCTION Data warehousing began in the 1980s as a response to the lack of information provided by the many online application systems that were being built, online applications served the needs of a limited community of users, and they were rarely integrated with each other. Additionally, online applications had no appreciable amount of historical data because they jettisoned their historical data as quickly as possible in the name of high performance. Thus, corporations had lots of data and very little information. Inmon claims that a DW was the first attempt at architecture that most organizations had ever encountered. Prior to data warehousing, everything had been a new application; however, it became apparent that applications were not going to get the organization where it needed to go over time. The solution was to build an architecture or at least the first fledgling steps of an architecture. STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM The study intends to compare the present warehouse management practice at Coimbatore district with the logistics companies. The main objective is analyse the best relationship between the warehouse workers with the dimensional factors (Facility, Functioning, Quality), and in future days how to run an best way of warehouse. The new technology deployed should increase the throughput and efficiency of the system and at the same time reduce the costs and reduce the time taken to perform that respective operation. The present warehouse are in the situation where there is a speculation of which strategy can give the warehouses the best results and the warehouse managers are very sceptical and apprehensive over the use of the latest technologies or the traditional warehousing methods in order to maintain the warehouse efficiently at the same time gets good results for the organizations. This thesis work gives an insight of the traditional as well as the latest advances and trends in technology in the field of warehousing and it also gives us a glance of today s warehouses and how they perform their operations. The terminology of Warehouse concept is discussed very briefly in order to get an idea of all the operations performed in the warehouse and the technological advances performed in the warehouse and the technological advances available editor@researchscripts.org
2 OBJECTIVES OF THE STUDY To analyse the relationship between the employees and the dimensional factors of warehouse. To suggest better ways to carry out the warehousing mechanism for smoother progress in future. SCOPE OF THE STUDY The scope of research project include data warehouse in collecting information from Coimbatore district in where the warehouse located to get information the workers foe the objectives of maintain good relationship between the workers and move and handling the goods to the warehouse in smoother way in future days. Nowadays the firm are well aware of their advance techniques to use and handling the materials and storage easily. RESEARCH METHODOLOGY This chapter deals with the Survey questionnaires (See Appendix A) were dispatched to Coimbatore logistics companies engaged in warehouse functions and qualities were in total 70 respondents received. Interviews were also conducted in order to gather in brief information above the topic. RESEARCH DESIGN Research design is generally a pure and simplified framework and certain plan for a study that will guide the collection and analysis of data where information needed. The function of the research design is to ensure that the required data is obtained and collected accurately and economically. Research design is basic framework, which provides guideline for the best of research purpose. SAMPLING METHOD To study the Project a Convenient Sampling Method is adopted. The study depends on primary data. A pilot study is conducted to validate the questionnaire and to confirm the feasibility of the study. Based on the pilot study, the questionnaire is modified suitably to elicit response from the sample group. SAMPLING SIZE Sample of 70 respondents were taken into study, and their data were collected. Samples for the purpose of the study are selected systematically. METHOD OF DATA COLLECTION The data for this study are of two types: - Primary data Secondary data PRIMARY DATA The primary data implicates the collection of information through direct observation, personal interviews, questionnaire and conducting conversation. This is basically the data collected by the researcher during the project which is only used for the project for the research work. SECONDARY DATA The secondary data means the study of documents, biographies, websites, textbooks, scientific articles and other historical and documentary records which are relevant for the research study. This type of data can be assembled from already existing documentation editor@researchscripts.org
3 STATISTICAL TOOLS The following statistical tools are used in the study Percentage Analysis PERCENTAGE ANALYSIS Percentage refers to a special kind of ratio in making comparison between two or more data and to describe relationships. Percentage can also be used to compare the relative terms in the distribution of two or more sources of data. Number of Respondents Percentage of Respondents = X 100 Total Respondents PERIOD OF THE STUDY The period of the study is 4 months (from December 2016 to March 2017). LIMITATIONS OF THE STUDY Though it is an in depth analysis, it is not free from the limitations. The following are the limitations of this study: The study is carry out by warehouse workers safety needs and their satisfaction to handing the materials in advance techniques. The sample size was limited to 70. The study was completed in short period. Lack of time for study is another drawback. REVIEW OF LITERATURE Watson and Ariyachandra 2005 conducted a Webbased survey of 454 to better understand the factors that influence the selection of a DW architecture and the success of the various architectures. For the study, the authors, in addition to reviewing the data warehousing literature, formed a group of 20 experts to help identify the architectures to study and the success measures to use. Bill Inmon and Ralph Kimball, who are leading experts in the field of DW, were among the participants. The results showed the predominance of the hub-and-spoke architecture (39%) followed by the bus architecture (26%), centralized (17%), IDM (12%), and federated (4%). The researchers found that the initial development time and costs for independent data marts, the bus architecture, and the centralized architecture are very similar to one another. Diego Conference in August 2004 by Forrester survey of 213 practitioners at the Data Warehousing Institute San, showed 42.25% of those questioned were in favour of centralized with hub-and-spokes architecture followed by IDM without consistent design, the centralized architecture, federated and virtual data warehousing, with 15.49%, 18.78%, % and 0.94% respectively. Lou Agosta, the lead industry analyst at Forrester Research, Inc, said it was the type of the firm that influence the choice of the architecture. In the real world, firms that are highly centralized in geography and governance should pursue a centralized data warehouse architecture to reap the greatest operational efficiencies and business benefits. In contrast, those firms that are highly decentralized will prefer a distributed architecture, and those with a mixedorganizational pattern should implement a federated one. Agosta says no DW architecture is right or wrong in itself. Enterprises have succeeded with all the alternativearchitectures surveyed - and individual cases of 17 editor@researchscripts.org
4 failure have also occurred. The data warehousing architecture will often mirror the form of the enterprise that implements it. William McKnight, who architected and directed thedevelopment of several of the largest and most successful business intelligence programs in the world, claims that the mighty struggle within the ranks of IT architects and consultancies about the best architecture no longer subsists. We cannot deny the efficacy of having a centralized data store with quality, integrated, accessible, high performance and scalable data. The discussion now revolves around the EDW architecture. McKnight, the founder and president of McKnight Associates, Inc., a leading business intelligenceconsultancy, argued that EDW is a big tent architecture, and the bigger, the better; however, there still must bedigestible pieces along the way. Increasingly, large enterprises are recognizing the value of an EDW in their information and knowledge strategies. Srikant, a senior DW consultant for Teradata, discussed the potential benefits of an EDW. The potential benefits include cost-effective consolidation of data for a single view of the business and creation of a powerful platform for everything from predictive analysis to near real-time strategic and tactical decision support throughout the organization. Khai Loon Lee and Zulkifli Mohamed Udin (2014), Global Supply Chain Capabilities in Malaysian Textile and Apparel Industry. In today s dynamic business environment, the competition is no more between firms; however, between supply chains to gain competitive advantages. This leads to global supply chain. In the global supply chains, the potential of global supply chain capabilities for growth is very promising. Despite the incredible expansion of the industry, particularly Malaysian textile and apparel supply chain, there has been relatively a handful academic study that looked specifically in the area of global supply chain capabilities and performance. This resulting in very little attention has been paid to the power of global supply chain capabilities by researchers and practitioners. This study is derived from the concept of resource based view in supply chain management. This study aims to investigate the relationship between global supply chain capabilities and supply chain performance in Malaysian textile and apparel industry. By thorough reviewing the supply chain management literatures, this study found that there is a relationship between global supply chain capabilities, namely relational capability, technological capability, and organizational culture capability, and supply chain performance. From the underpinning theory and thorough literature review of the study area, this study provides a unique theoretical framework intended to aid researchers and practitioners to develop a more comprehensive understanding of the linkages between global supply chain capabilities and supply chain performance. SUGGESTION Single unified license for buying, procuring, selling of inputs, storage, and processing of all agriculture commodities for the State as whole be introduced. The existing markets with APMCs could be leased out for up gradation and management on long term contracts or be converted into public private partnership markets. The organization of markets should be on the principle of a service industry. The state should hold regular elections of agricultural produce market committees and bring professionalism in the functioning of existing regulated markets. Shift agricultural marketing from the list of state subjects to the concurrent list for speeding up the progress of market reforms and evolving a unified national market. CONCLUSION The management functions of planning, organizing, leading, and controlling are widely considered to be the best means of describing the manager's job as well as the best way to classify accumulated knowledge about the study of management. Although there have been tremendous changes in the environment faced by managers and the tools used by managers to perform their roles, managers still perform these essential functions editor@researchscripts.org
