What is it? How it works Linkages to environmental best practice
What is AIRCARE AIRCARE is an integrated safety programme for all of an aviation business Flight safety and environmental safety are brought together It was launched at Parliament on 10 May 2011 It introduces aircraft operators to Safety Management Systems (SMS).
How it works Operators will need a: quality assurance process procedure to identify hazards procedure to place controls on the hazards procedure to measure the effectiveness of those controls (QA & risk management) Third party audited Able to be amended to reflect new technology and regulations
This side is mandated What about this side? AIRCARE relies on partnerships with regulators/customers
Codes of Practice in AIRCARE GROWSAFE Management of Agrichemicals (NZS8409:2004) SPREADMARK CoP for the Placement of Fertilisers in NZ NZAAA CoP for the Aerial Application of Vertebrate Toxic Agents AIRCARE CoP for Noise Abatement
Accreditation vs certification Are they the same? Certification is a personal qualification Accreditation is achieved by a business Accreditation is achieved by meeting standards verified through an independent third party audit Certification retained Accreditation can be removed.
Benefits from AIRCARE DOC example Milford Sound noise We gave them AIRCARETM AIRCARE adopted by DOC Minister of Conservation announcement 6 July 2011
Is an enabling process Enable regulators to have the confidence that their requirements are being met Enable aircraft operators to go to work tomorrow.
AIRCARE and potential Plan linkages Key issues for aviation Discharges to air, land and water Noise Regional and District Plans Spreadmark, VTA and GROWSAFE COP s Guidance Notes Options PA rule in plans for AIRCARE operators Basis of conditions of compliance Education Consent if not AIRCARE accredited Noise abatement COP
