The Liferaft Systems Australia (LSA) Marine Evacuation Systems (MES) are suitable for all types and sizes of personnel carrying military vessels including logistic support vessels, offshore patrol ships, primary casualty receiving ships, aircraft carriers, littoral combat ships, frigates, corvettes and destroyers. LSA are the MES Specialists. LSA pioneered direct liferaft access inclined slide based MES in the early 1990s, and to this day only manufacture MES and large capacity liferafts. Designing, manufacturing and installing high quality, safe and reliable MES is our core business and our exclusive area of expertise. With over 25 years of design refinement, there are now over 600 LSA MES in service on passenger and personnel carrying vessels worldwide. Military vessels with LSA MES installed operate in military theatres throughout the world. These vessels are operated by armed forces from New Zealand, USA, UK and the Netherlands. 2 With a proven record of successful installations and deployments, LSA have had over 25,000 persons descend the MES during deployment trials and crew training tests. The objective was simple: to design a more reliable MES which was easier to use and provided a faster yet safer evacuation for all. The result was LSA s pioneering inclined slide based dry shod Marine Evacuation System designed to deliver passengers, personnel or crew directly into large capacity liferafts.

Ease of Operation Safe and Rapid Evacuation In a marine emergency every second is critical, even more so if that marine emergency is in a combat zone. LSA MES saves you time. The speed of evacuation for military personnel is critical. >> LSA MES is deployed locally at the MES station or remotely released from the vessel s operating compartment. >> With minimal training, one crew person can deploy an LSA MES. >> A unique fixed bowsing line arrangement means once the MES is deployed, no winching or further seamanship is required to make the MES operational. >> LSA MES is fully tested and approved to safely evacuate up to 600 personnel in less than 30 minutes per MES station. >> LSA MES is capable of safely and rapidly evacuating all military and non-military personnel regardless of age, gender, size, physical capability or even injury. >> There is no risk of personnel being stopped or trapped on the slide. The evacuation is continuous and evacuation rate is never compromised. >> It is also possible to safely lower or recover a seriously injured person on a rescue stretcher up or down the MES inclined slide. >> Military personnel can easily transport supplies, weapons and full survival kits with them down the evacuation slide. >> LSA MES is deployed, fully operational and ready to commence evacuation in less than 60 seconds. The ability to rapidly recover persons from the water is crucial. LSA MES is fully type approved to be used as a Means of Rescue (MOR) by fitting the LSA MES winch to a single MES station. Approved in accordance with SOLAS Chapter III Regulation >> Personnel can be recovered up the inclined slide using a simple retrieval ladder as shown above, or suitable stretcher. >> Medical personnel can go down the slide and immediately assess recovered casualties on the safe stable platform provided by the attached 50 or 100 person liferaft. >> Each ship is supplied with a retrieval ladder to aid personnel recovery; or if crew need to return to vessel during an evacuation.
