6 Texas Freight Network Outlines the freight-centric transportation facilities that facilitates efficient movement of goods and emphasize strategic freight corridors. Identifies key assets that move the bulk of goods in Texas Comprised of: Primary Freight Highway Network: Nearly 6,400 miles of highways and is projected to carry more than 10 million tons by Secondary Freight Highway Network/Emerging Freight Corridors: Over 13,400 The Texas Rail Network, which is comprised of 4,600 miles of Class 1 railroads, and 2,400 miles of Shortlines. The Pipeline Network 426,000 miles of pipelines. The Texas portion of the Gulf Intracoastal Waterway 379 miles in length. Focuses the Freight Plan and guide future freight transportation investments for safe, efficient and reliable goods movement. 6
