The versatile Multi-Purpose Machine (MPM) maintenance provider easily and safely handles labor-intensive tasks such as ditching, tie distribution, tie pick up, rail pick up, PTC and signaling installation, general clean up, OTM distribution and pick up, grading and crossing work, tree removal and thinning, land clearing, snow removal, and material (ballast and rip rap) distribution. The MPMs are capable of reaching up to 27 feet from the track center. Each machine is equipped with a Roto-Tilt articulating head which makes it ideal for general clean up, OTM removal or redistribution, re-ballasting crossing areas, ditching or grading and a multitude of other jobs. The operator is able to change the variety of quick-connect attachments in less than 5 minutes. No work train is needed for the cost effective MPM, and being self-propelled means just one Herzog employee is required for total MPM operation. The MPM can travel to the next job site at 50 miles per hour or can be put on the rear end of a train for movement.

6 P.L.U.S. and SMART Train Herzog s Programmable Linear Unloading System (P.L.U.S.) and SMART train cars use a system designed to safely and efficiently distribute ballast. GPS coordinates are used to define ballast spread, nospread areas and indicate the desired amount of ballast needed to create the ballast survey file. The train, made up of Herzog Automated Ballast cars, provides the fastest, most precise and efficient means of spreading ballast. 7 LIDAR and Outage Truck LIDAR Truck The Herzog LIDAR Truck scans the track surface and determines the amount of ballast that needs dumped in order to fill the template provided by the railroad. Herzog s technology is equipped with a GNSS inertial system with an accuracy that places the exact amount of ballast in locations where needed. This process requires the Herzog LIDAR truck to scan the track surface, process the information gathered and then transfer that information to the P.L.U.S. and SMART train surveys. Outage Truck The P.L.U.S and S.M.A.R.T trains use the information from the Herzog Outage Truck to generate a seamless GPS survey that improves ballast unloading efficiency. The Outage truck is a hyrail vehicle mounted with a GNSS Inertial System to survey the track. Using the new equipment, the outage truck can produce more accurate surveys through the mountainous regions of the United States. Not only is survey time reduced, but the accuracy is vastly better.

8 RUM Rail Unloading Machine The Rail Unloading Machine (RUM) is designed to unload continuously welded rail from the railroad s existing or HRSI provided Gen II Rail Train. The RUM can move from job site to job site on the highway with a crew of two, eliminating the need for costly and time consuming switching of maintenance-of-way equipment. Once the RUM arrives at the predetermined job site, the RUM sets on the track and couples to the rail train. The RUM can unload rail to both sides of the track. A 40 pocket rail train can be unloaded in four hours. The RUM can position up to 10 rails an hour and eliminates the need for extensive manpower while reducing the risk of injury. At the completion of the project, the RUM cuts away from the rail train and removes itself from the track. Within a few minutes, the RUM can be ready for highway travel to the next assignment. The RUM s mobility allows for efficient and safe handling of continuously welded rail, while reducing the number of personnel needed to perform this labor intensive task.

9 Automated Tie Down Car Herzog s automated tie down car has revolutionized the process of rail train loading and unloading. There is no longer a need to physically clamp and unclamp rails making this once manual process much safer. An increase in efficiency is seen in the remote control operation of the clamps rather than manually removing and putting them back on. The automation of the tie down car supports the railroads desire to reduce track and time needs and increase the window of time to run revenue freight. 10 GEN II Rail Train The GENII Rail Train is a Herzog designed rail train built on spine cars instead of conventional flats. The spine cars are mounted with racks and the entire train is equipped with articulated connectors. This concept was designed to improve train handling during transport from the rail plant to the job site. All of the trains are built with end cars on both ends to allow for unloading regardless of which direction the train is heading (when loaded with full length sticks of rail). The train is able to carry up to 50 strings (10x5) of 141lb rail and can also be set up for either a manual tie down or our new Automated Tie Down Car. The end cars have a hydraulic ramp that either a railroad provided winch car or the Herzog RUM will be able to hook into. 12 Cartopper Material Handler The Cartopper offers a more economical, safer and efficient method of handling materials. The Cartopper rides along the top of railcars moving from car to car unloading onto the right-of-way as the work train moves along the track. Once the car is unloaded the operator simply moves the Cartopper to the next car, regardless of variance in car heights. Equipped with electro magnets, the Cartopper s versatility to load and unload rail, plates, spikes and anchors will eliminate switching delays. The flexibility of the Cartopper Material Handling system leads to tremendous utilization unloading aggregate, rip rap, and other bulk materials. Unloading material directly into trucks eliminates costly double handling. An advantage to using the Cartopper Material Handler is that you do not have to install expensive unloading systems that use twice the track space and can only be used at their permanent location. 13 Solar Ballast Car Automation Kit The need to manually dump ballast cars for division maintenance or in an emergency such as scouring or washouts can be eliminated with the installation of a Herzog Solar Automation Kit to a railroads existing ballast car fleet. The railroad needs to provide us with cars compatible with our kit, then we install the kit at one of our two car repair shops in Falls City, Nebraska or St. Joseph, Missouri. Solar Ballast Car Automation Kit Consists of but not limited to the following: Removal and modification of existing doors New door rubbers on existing door frames Solar panels and mounting brackets Cylinder bell cranks and brackets Hydraulic/Electrical cabinets, side boxes and push buttons for door controls Battery installation Remote control operation is optional
