The London Family Planning Summit July 2012 KEY FACTS Over 150 leaders from governments, donors, civil society, private sector 23 governments made commitments to address policy, financing, delivery barriers 26 foundations/donors made new financial commitments of $2.6 billion over 8 years New financial commitments from country governments totaled $2.0 billion 1,292 NGOs from 177 countries signed the Civil Society Declaration Source: USAID/PRH Stakeholders Meeting February 4, 2013 Page 2 BHC Pharmaceuticals, Annette Velleuer 2013
Unmet Need for FP Methods Remaining Did you know, that* at least 200 million women want to use safe and effective FP methods, but are unable to do so because they lack access to products/services or the support of their husbands and communities. And more than 50 million of the 190 million women who become pregnant each year have abortions. Many of these are clandestine and performed under unsafe conditions. Worldwide, some 14 million children are born every year to young married and unmarried women aged 15 to 19. The absolute number of married women who either use contraception or who have an unmet need for FP is projected to grow from 900 million in 2010 to 962 million in 2015, and will increase in most developing countries. Need new approaches to address supply hurdles and increase awareness *Source: UNFPA, Aug 2012, The Lancet, Early Online Publication, 12 March 2013, Page 3 BHC Pharmaceuticals, Annette Velleuer 2013

Acknowledgements Melinda Gates, Co-chair of the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation In July 2012, global leaders pledged to provide women around the world with greater access to more contraceptive options, and today, we are one step closer to delivering on this promise. We hope this will be the first of many innovative partnerships that will help give women and girls the power to create better lives for themselves and their families. Prof. Dr. Wolfgang Plischke, Head of Bayer HealthCare AG, Member of Board of Directors Innovation is the key to our commercial success. At the same time the basis of our social commitment. With this initiative we want to make a substantial contribution to improving the health of women and children in developing countries. Page 6 BHC Pharmaceuticals, Annette Velleuer 2013

Establishing End to End Visibility for Jadelle Now that we have the right product at the right price, reaching FP2020 goals will require that we get the right quantity of Jadelle to the right countries in the right condition and at the right time As demand increases we need to align orders to forecasts that are based on a combination of consumption, service capacity and demographic projections as well as budgets We will likely experience competing demands so need to balance demand with supply across different procurement agencies to ensure we can serve as many clients as possible With so many different partners involved, this needs careful coordination, trust, information sharing and collaboration It will need constant adjustment and flexibility while meeting agency administrative requirements 15
Model for Jadelle Supply Chain Collaboration UNFPA/DFID USAID RHSC/ BMGF Bayer Procurement Initial production agreement Production Business Benefits: Country forecasts submitted Production planning Better transparency Country forecasts analyzed Better alignment between supply and demand Purchase Orders placed by UNFPA & USAID Country forecasts updated Collaborate on aligning supply and demand Production to Purchase Orders Updated production planning Better communication Joint problem solving Better order fulfillment Reduced product expiry Donor Guarantors 16
