4 Almost 600 surveys were collected Nearly 62% of surveys were taken during the weekday About 86% of respondents arrived at the Transfer Center via transit (MARTA or CCT), while 6% arrived via driving/carpooling and another 6% by walking/biking About 60% of respondents take CCT Route 10 Many of those surveyed live, work, and visit within the Cumberland area 4

5 About 49% of respondents live in the area and 39% work in the area About 3% of survey responses received were in Spanish Over half (54%) of respondents were under the age of 36 A majority (53%) of respondents were female Nearly three-fourths (71%) of the respondents had an annual household income of under $35,000 5

6 About 62% of respondents said their primary trip purpose was work, and only 3% said shopping More than two-thirds of the respondents (69%), noted that they will not be doing any shopping/visiting in the Cumberland area. Nearly all the respondents (94%) of respondents said they would ride the Cumberland transit circulator Current CCT riders would like CCT on Sundays 6

13 Stakeholder interviews conducted in March 2015 Conducted 16 stakeholder interviews and facilitated two (2) group discussions with Cobb Travel & Tourism and representatives of Cumberland s hospitality industry Feedback received was via personal interviews and discussions, rather than a quantitative survey; as such, the results below reflect common themes observed among the responses Charts are intended to show common themes and raw number of responses, rather than statistical data 13

19 Received 281 responses, (primarily middle aged adults with an annual household income greater than $55,000) Most people arrive at work between 7 and 8 AM Most people leave work between 4 and 5 PM Lunch is the primary reason for people to leave their office. Business reasons or shopping are also frequent reasons About 87% of respondents would be willing to ride a circulator bus if it were convenient About 31% of people would prefer to pay with a smartphone app A majority of people drive to work by themselves and park in a garage or lot at work A majority of people drive because they need their car for work or transit service is not available and convenient 19

20 Received 103 responses (younger demographics and lower household income than the employee and traveler survey respondent demographics) Most people have one or two full-time workers in the household Most work in Cumberland, Marietta, or Atlanta, while some work from home Only 6% of respondents did not have any cars available to them Typical week s travel is primarily for work, followed by shopping About 67% would prefer traveling by car, only 3% travel by transit A majority of those who take transit take MARTA for part of their trip, a significant portion also takes CCT A majority find biking or using transit in the Cumberland area is not easy There s strong support for a circulator bus service 20

21 Received 57 responses Work was the most frequent reason to travel Almost 90% of respondents drove alone, about 7% carpooled About 84% said they would also be shopping or visiting other parts of Cumberland (by driving) About 65% of respondents do not live in the Cumberland area About 58% of respondents work in the Cumberland area 75% of respondents would consider riding a circulator bus service 36% of respondents would prefer to pay using Cash, 27% would prefer using a Breeze card 21

24 Six circulator systems were selected that are generally similar to the study area in terms of geographic area and population, density, urban form, economic base, housing, attractions, and employment patterns The systems included: Atlantic Station Shuttle (Atlanta, GA) Buckhead Uptown Connection (Atlanta, GA) CBUS Circulator (Columbus, OH) Milwaukee County Transit System Route 90 (Milwaukee, WI) Music City Circuit (Nashville, TN) TARC Circulators (Louisville, KY) 24
