2 Tishreen University Journal for Research and Scientific Studies - Basic Sciences Series Vol. ( ) No. ( ) Effect of Sea and River Water Interference on Total oncentration, Organic and Inorganic Distribution of Some Metallic Elements Dr. Ghiasse Abase * Dr. Hassan Wassouf** (Received / /. Accepted / / ) ABSTRAT In this work, we tried to determine the total, organic and inorganic concentration of some elements in water and sediments obtained from northern big river. We used solidliquid extraction method to separate: d, u, o, r, Fe, V, Ni, Mn, Zn, Pb from water with a variable salinity ( ) to know the effect of salinity on the distribution of metals among these fractions. Furthermore, the concentrations of metals were determined in the suspended matter resulted from of water. The results showed that the concentrations of metals decreased with salinity increasing and they were mostly in the organic fraction at low salinity; while it was maximal in the inorganic fraction at high salinity. Some metals have also a good affinity in the organic fraction like iron, zinc and manganese while cadmium, chrome, nickel, cobalt, vanadium. They tended to be mostly in the inorganic fraction. Keywords: Metallic elements, Organic concentration, Inorganic concentration, Sea water, River water. * Assistant Professor, Department of Marine hemistry, High Institute of Marine Research, Tishreen University, Lattakia, Syria. **Assistant Professor, Department of hemistry, Faculty of Sciences, Tishreen University, Lattakia, Syria. ٧٢
