Iron ore composition varies among different deposits and mines and all commercial iron ores contain small amounts of other components in addition to the above listed. These small quantities are referred as trace or residual elements and they are associated to minerals that occur in nature associated with iron ore deposits. Grades are usually so small that they are not relevant as far as materials safety is concerned. Typical traces and residual elements found in nature associated to iron ore are aluminum

2 oxide and hydroxides (bauxite (Al(OH) 3 ), clay minerals and alumina-bearing minerals (Al 2 O 3 )), manganese oxides and hydroxides (MnO, MnO(OH), MnO 2 ), calcium oxide (CaO), magnesium dioxide (MgO), phosphorous oxide (P 2 O 5 ) and titanium oxide (TiO 2 ). Section 4 First aid measures Eye Inhalation Skin Ingestion Low irritant. Exposure to dust/ powder may result in mechanical irritation. Dust exposure: Flush gently with running water. Seek medical attention if irritation develops. Low irritant. Overexposure at high levels may result in mucous membrane irritation of the nose and throat. Iron oxide particles may remain in the lung when inhaled, however respiratory function is not normally affected. Dust exposure: If overexposure occurs, leave exposure area immediately. Seek medical attention if symptoms develop. Low irritant. Prolonged and repeated contact may result in irritation due to mechanical action. Gently flush affected areas with water. Low toxicity. Ingestion may result in gastrointestinal irritation, nausea and vomiting. However, due to product form ingestion is considered unlikely. If ingestion occurs, contact a Doctor or Poisons Information Centre. Do not induce vomiting without first seeking medical advice. Section 5 Firefighting measures Non-flammable. Section 6 Accidental release measures Spray lightly with water to avoid creating dust and sweep/shovel into a suitable container for small spills. For large spills, remove spilled material with mechanical equipment (e.g. front end loader, etc.). Collect and reuse where possible. Section 7 Handling and storage Avoid creation and inhalation of dust from this material. When ventilation conditions cannot control exposures below occupational exposure limits wear an approved particulate respirator. Appropriate selection depends upon magnitude of exposure. When handling large quantities or where significant human exposure is likely, wear coveralls, dust-proof goggles and gloves. No special conditions required for storage in ambient conditions. However, appropriate stockpiling techniques should be used to avoid sliding. Water / liquid effluents that may drain out of iron ore stockpiles or contaminated storm water should be treated to meet local limits legally established before being discharged to surface waters Section 8 Exposure controls/personal protection

3 Occupational Exposure Standard: Not relevant for iron ores, except for respirable dust (see below). Respirable dust: 10 mg/m 3 8 hour TWA (OSHA PEL as iron oxide dust and fume, based on 8- hour-time-weighted average values). Biological limit values: Engineering controls: In high concentrations, meaning either sustained exposure above occupational standard or a non-comfortable working environment, use dust extraction (mechanical general and / or exhaust ventilation). Personal Protective Equipment: Eye: approved goggles or safety glasses with side shields. Inhalation: approved particulate respirator. Appropriate selection depends upon magnitude of exposure. Skin: protective clothing and work gloves. Section 9 Physical and chemical properties Appearance Solid and particulate matter with particles ranging from dozens of micrometers to up to approximately 20 mm, with a certain amount of water present as moisture and, secondarily, as hydration. Colors vary: brown, reddish brown, dark brown, earth-brown, grey, metallic grey or black. The finer the dust, the redder it becomes. Section 11 Toxicological information Acute and chronic health effects Level of toxicity is not relevant. Nevertheless, long-term inhalation of iron oxide dust may produce a benign pneumoconiosis (siderosis) and respiratory exposure to crystalline silica can cause lesions in the respiratory bronchioles in early stages to later development of massive fibrosis (silicosis). This is usually developed over an extended period of time in a gradual progression; however progression of symptoms usually continues after dust exposure ceases. Possible routes of exposure Primary routes of exposure are inhalation, eye contact and skin contact. Range of effects following exposure Following over exposure coughing may occur; eye irritation may follow eye contact. Dose, concentrations or conditions of exposure likely to cause injury Eye irritation may occur instantaneously as a result of eye contact. Iron ore dust above 10 mg/m 3 8 hour TWA is beyond occupational exposure limit for particulate dust (OSHA PEL as iron oxide dust and fume, based on 8-hour-time-weighted average values), Additional toxicological information Section 12 Ecological information Ecotoxicity: Water, or more exactly, liquid effluents that may drain out of iron ore stockpiles or contaminated storm water should be treated to meet local limits legally established before being discharged to surface waters. Reduction in the generation of effluents through process modifications and recycling is recommended. Mobility: Iron oxide is an abundant metal mineral in the earth's crust. Low concentrations can persist in water supplies indefinitely and will increase the turbidity of water. Use a dust suppressant (e.g. water spray) to prevent airborne dust during handling. Refer to local regulations for discharge. Section 13 Disposal considerations

5 Disposal methods: Reclaim and reuse where possible. Although iron ore is not classified as a hazardous waste, recovered material that cannot be reused should be disposed of in accordance with applicable local, state and federal regulations. Clean-up personnel should be protected against eye contact and inhalation of dust. Good housekeeping techniques such as vacuuming should be used to remove dust and to prevent the generation of airborne dust. Avoid use of compressed air for removing settled dust; avoid inhalation of dust and contact with eyes. Section 14 Transport information IMSBC Code: For purposes of maritime transportation, following guidance and directions of the IMSBC Code 2013 Edition and the Circular Letter DSC.1/Circ.71 dated 15 November 2013, both issued by the International Maritime Organization (IMO), SSFT Standard Sinter Feed Tubarão is categorized by its shipper as Iron Ore Fines, a Group A cargo (a cargo which may liquefy if shipped at a moisture content in excess of its transportable moisture limit TML).
