The reply is Palapreg ECO P-55-01, launched in April This high-performance bio-based thermoset resin for the Automotive industry is a patented product consisting of 55 % bio-renewable material, which is the highest bio-renewable content currently available on the market. Palapreg ECO not only matches the performance of petrochemical based materials in the market without any compromise on its processability, it even outperforms some of the best traditional, oil based plastic materials. The launch of Palapreg ECO signifies the emergence of a new horizon for automotive thermoset resins: it helps OEMs to generate carbon credits, at the same time drive the carbon emission reduction initiatives. It is a versatile material which can be used as a matrix in the composite ranging from glass, carbon to natural fibers. For the future, DSM has high ambitions to continue its work in the research for better and more sustainable solutions to the benefit of the Composite Industry. Palapreg ECO P55-01 is suitable for vehicle body parts, including exterior panels made of SMC and BMC in the Automotive industry. Tests by tier-1 OEMs have proven that DSM has been able to achieve this high renewable content without making any sacrifice to product performance or processing speeds, meeting the sustainability objectives. Ester Wegher, SHE Manager at Menzolit Compounds International, a gobal leader of compound production: We had the opportunity to use the resin in an available Class A tool which produces SMC parts for a top-of-the-range car spoiler. The results obtained were very favorable the parts painted well and near to the quality of the specifically designed standard grade used, which was encouraging, as the resin was not originally designed for this type of speciality application. 1 of 2

2 DSM Composite Resins Palapreg ECO P55-01 has already been used for the bodywork of a kart competing in Formula Zero, the world s first zero-emission motor racing championship. The material had to comply with all FIA (Fédération Internationale de l Automobile) guidelines on strength and safety. Moreover, Palapreg ECO series is suitable for a wide range of applications across construction, infrastructure, marine and other industrial segments. Christophe Peyre of Mixt Composites Recyclables (MCR), a France-based developer of automotive applications, said: "We have tested Palapreg ECO on a range of automotive applications and it consistently matched conventional alternatives in terms of performance and functionality.
