2 The vision of the NPA Programme ( ) The Northern Periphery and Arctic Programme aims to develop the program area to be a 1st class region to live, study, work, visit and invest by harnessing innovation, expanding the capacity for entrepreneurship and seizing the unique growth initiatives and opportunities in a resource efficient way
3 Background Forestry is a significant contributor to rural economies in Nordic countries, and its importance is growing rapidly in Scotland and Ireland Poor profitability, increasing and diversified demand for forestry services call for developing business management skills of the enterpreneurs providing various services to the forest industry Ability to acquire new skills is often constrained by long distances to training possibilities and a lack of time
