5 From Vice Chancellor s Desk Prof KS Khokhar Vice Chancellor Agriculture is still the backbone of Indian economy with majority of population dependent on agriculture and allied activities. The nation's accelerated development is directly related to quality and quantity of employable skills possessed by its workforce. The availability of employable skills is one of the major determinants of how readily new job seekers and employment. During the degree program, the students develop employable skills which help them in tackling issues and situations to be faced in their respective chosen fields. I am happy that Students' Counseling and Placement Cell is bringing out digital placement brochure for final year BSc (Hons) Agriculture students. The agriculture graduates of CCS Haryana Agricultural University are second to none as evident from the high position occupied by alumni of this University in various public and private enterprises. KS Khokhar Placement Brochure

6 From the Dean s Desk Dr RK Pannu Dean, CoA I am happy to learn about that our University is publishing the placement brochure of BSc (Hons) Agri graduates for the year Agriculture is the oldest profession developed with the civilization. It is the noble profession, which feed the world. In global context the Indian Agriculture is most robust not from production and productivity of crops, but from diversity point of view also. As in India we are growing maximum number of crops (Field, Horticulture, Forest Medicinal) animals, fisheries and varieties/breeds as well. We have all type of climate soils and growing conditions i.e. rainfed, irrigated, precision farming, organic farming, integrated farming system. Agricultural contribution to national GDP has declined to 14%, but agricultural produce has been the raw material to important agro-industries. Agriculture still remains principal source of livelihood for about 2/3 of the population. For the sovereignty of nation self sustainability of food is essential. With the ever increasing human and cattle population in the country for nutritional security, food security and sustainability of system, agricultural production has to increase with the growth rate of 4% per annum. We have to prepare our students to take up this challenge with modern technologies of diversification, mechanization, transgenic and improving input use efficiency along with reducing the negative impact of climate change. I hope our creative, analytical, dynamic, innovative and Practical Crop Production, Experiential Learning and Rural Agricultural Work Experience training give our graduates an edge in solving the problem of stake holders and in achieving this sacred goal. I wish all the students a bright future and great success in life. RK Pannu Placement Brochure

Opportunities are provided to students to continue intellectual development and contribute to the changing needs of agriculture. It is due to the qualified manpower pool that renowned companies and organizations make a beeline to CCS Haryana Agricultural University to recruit BSc (Hons) Ag students as per their requirements.
