Interested Parties Water Supply Park Cities Municipal Utilities District City of Grapevine City of Dallas The United States Army Corps of Engineers controls the water releases for the reservoir 8

Interested Parties Wastewater Dischargers Trinity River Authority Denton Creek City of Grapevine Trophy Club (non-irrigation periods) Rhome, Justin, Ponder, etc. 9

Lake Grapevine Water Quality Data Data has been collected by: Trinity y River Authority Dallas Water Utilities City y of Grapevine United States Geological Survey Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ, previously TNRCC, etc.) 13

On-Going Water Quality Studies For Grapevine Lake TRA Dissolved Oxygen Water Quality Criteria for Coves Clean Rivers Program TCEQ Water Quality Criteria for Chlorophyll: 11.9 ug/l (range for other Texas reservoirs = 3 to 56 ug/l) 14

On-Going Water Quality Studies For Grapevine Lake TCEQ Carlson Index Calculations (out of 101 reservoirs): Ranked 57 th for Chlorophyll a (mean of ug/l)) Ranked 46 th for Secchi Depth Transparency (mean of 1.08 meters) Ranked 6 th for Phosphorus (mean of mg/l) 15

On-Going Water Quality Studies For Grapevine Lake TRA and the City of Grapevine Evaluation of WWTP Discharge Impacts and Appropriate p Effluent Limits 16

Point versus Non-Point Nutrient Loadings In an average year, there is about 12 times as much runoff as wastewater flows to Lake Grapevine But nutrient (nitrogen and phosphorus) concentrations in wastewater are much higher than in runoff 17

Point versus Non-Point Nutrient Loadings Excess nutrients can cause excess algae growth in a reservoir In future wastewater discharge permits, the TCEQ will limit the concentrations of fp phosphorus p for most wastewater discharges to reservoirs 18

CONCERNS????? 19

Concerns Regarding g Grapevine Lake Shoreline Pollution Due to Developments (trash, algae, oil, etc.) Both the TRA Clean Rivers Program and the TCEQ Water Quality Inventory identify Nitrate as a Nutrient of Concern for Lake Grapevine 20

TRA CLEAN RIVERS PROGRAM 21

Concerns Regarding g Grapevine Lake Grapevine i Lake has no listed impairments on the TCEQ 303(d) list 22
