7 Walls and floors Create perfect surfaces with Qboard basiq With Qboard basiq you can create neat and even wall surfaces and at the same time insulate the room and protect the integrity of the masonry structure. For uneven walls, cracked or non-adhesive substrates, we recommend Qboard basiq with a thickness of at least 20 mm. The unique surface structure forms a perfectly adhesive substrate. Qboard can be covered immediately with tiles, render or plaster. The foam core of the construction board has excellent thermal insulation properties, ʎ = 0,035 W/(m K) On uneven walls, the construction board must be fastened at appropriate points first. Please use tile or flexible adhesive for fastening. The layout of the fastening points can be found on page 42. Attach the Qboard basiq construction board to the wall so that an even, perpendicular and flush surface is created for further processing. Once the adhesive has set drill 8mm diameter holes so that you can fasten the construction board with Qboard metal plugs later. Finally, all construction board joints must be coverd with Qboard glass-fibre tape and filled with tile adhesive. Use Qboard sealing tape for wet areas (e.g. showers). 9 Walls and floors Stud frame cladding with Qboard basiq Stud frame structures are very popular in interior work. Whether against a wall or free-standing, stud frame structures have cavities which provide space for water pipes and services. At the same time, they provide sturdy support for the installation of shower fittings and pipes. This way showers can also be positioned freely in the room since space for the connections can be integrated in the stud frame. Please use self-drilling screws for metal stud frames, and commercially available universal screws for wooden stud frames. Use suitable screws and Qboard insulation board disks to fasten Qboard construction boards to the metal or wooden stud frame. The optimum layout of the fastening points is shown on page 42. Use Qboard glass-fibre tape for butt joints. Use Qboard sealing tape to seal butt joints in wet areas (e.g. showers) which can be fixed in place with a thin bed of tile adhesive. 11 Walls and floors Fast and easy partition design Qboard basiq and H + U profiles The Qboard product range is versatile. Partitions enable you to divide your bathroom as you please and where your please. Whether as a screen wall or as a shower partition, Qboard can be used anywhere and protects the integrity of your rooms against moisture. For better stability, an unobtrusive holding rod can be fastened to the upper end of the partition. First fasten two Qboard U profiles with commercially available universal screws to the wall. Apply Board-Fix in strings to one long and one transverse side of the first Qboard basiq construction board. Then glue the construction board to the wall and floor. Glue two H profiles to the sides of the construction board with Board-Fix. Screw another U profile on the floor to secure the next construction board. Apply Board-Fix in strings to the next construction board on one long and one transverse side. Then insert the construction board into the profile. 13 Walls and floors Design your walls according to your wishes, with Qboard basiq reno Qboard basiq reno is a special construction board and provides great scope in wall design. The non-woven coating is very smooth so it can easily be covered even to silk wallpapers and fine plaster. The integrated taper edge has two advantages: you do not have to skim the board surface completely, but only the joint areas, and they are seamless and invisible afterwards. Qboard basiq reno is also robust and impact-resistant, so your walls will remain smooth and beautiful even where conditions can be harsh, in children's rooms for example. Qboard basiq reno can be used on virtually any substrate. The integrated taper edge enables even faster and easier use. Fasten a Qboard basiq reno construction board to the wall with a tile or flexible adhesive and then align it. Level out all board joints with suitable jointing tape, using gypsum filler. Fill the taper edge completely with gypsum filler and then rub it down smoothly. Afterwards you can treat the surface according to your taste, for example with wallpaper, with paint, tiles, plaster, décor panels or a full-surface filling. Qboard basiq reno 13

15 Walls and floors Create the perfect substrate for your new floor covering with Qboard basiq With a thickness of 10 mm, Qboard basiq is the perfect base for a new covering on any floor, whether screed, concrete, wood or old tiles. Qboard can also be used to optimize the performance of electrical underfloor heating systems by introducing a layer of insulation. Electric underfloor heating systems can be applied directly onto the construction board. The excellent thermal insulation prevents heat from being emitted downwards. Qboard is temperature-resistant up to 75 C. Floor tiles for floor areas should measure at least 10 x 10 cm and be at least 7 mm thick. The substrate should be clean, stable and adhesive and must first be suitably primed if necessary. Then apply tile or flexible adhesive to the entire surface with a notched trowel. Afterwards embed Qboard basiq in the adhesive by moving it back and forth slightly. Use Qboard glass-fibre tape to fill all construction board joints. In wet areas (e.g. showers), you should use Qboard sealing tape. After the tile adhesive has hardened, you can start to lay the tiles. Qboard basiq Glass-fibre tape Sealing tape 15

16 Walls and floors Cover your pipes with Qboard qorner Covering pipes with conventional materials is time-consuming, messy and hardly provides a suitable surface to tile onto. Qboard qorner enables quick and neat pipe cladding. Qboard qorner is available in different leg lengths. For perfect covering of thin water pipes to large soilpipes. Cut Qboard qorner to the desired length. Qboard qorner can be used in a vertical as well as horizontal position. Qboard anchor brackets spaced approximately 80 cm apart are plugged onto the angle element and screwed in place. Alternatively, Qboard qorner can also be fixed with Board-Fix. 17 Walls and floors Cover WC wall elements with Qboard quick With Qboard quick, you can clad your WC wall element quickly and easily. However you should note: Qboard quick is only a cladding element. The WC loads have to be borne by the steel frame of the WC wall element. Shorten Qboard quick to the appropriate length. Use a saw to cut out the recess for the push plate. Qboard quick can be mounted on the steel frame of the WC element with self-drilling metal screws and Qboard insulation board disks. Cut the side elements to size and glue them on with Board-Fix. 18 Individual bathroom furniture Qboard is more than just wall cladding or a base for tiles or plaster. With Qboard you can build bathroom furniture yourself without any complicated substructures. The Qboard basiq construction boards in thicknesses of 30, 40, 50 and 80 mm are ideal for building your entirely individual bathroom furniture. When it comes to washstands, seating furniture, shelving, storage space, there are no limits to your creativity. Design your bathroom according to your needs and wishes, with just one material and without any great effort. 18

20 Individual bathroom furniture Create your individual washstand with Qboard basiq With Qboard basiq, you can design your entirely individual washstand with or without storage space. To avoid complicated tile cuts, select the tiles first and determine the washstand dimensions afterwards. Cut Qboard basiq with a material thickness of 50 mm to the desired dimension. Use Board-Fix to fix the cut elements together. For stabilisation, you can also screw on the side parts. We recommend using commercially available universal screws (6 x 120 mm) for this purpose. The screw heads should be set flush with the surface. Glue and screw together the cover of the washstand as described above. 21 Individual bathroom furniture Build unique furniture with Qboard qreative With the bendable construction board Qboard qreative, you can design individual bathroom furniture such as seats and benches. To provide pleasant warmth, electric heating mats can be fixed directly on Qboard qreative. Please note that the temperature of the heating mat must not exceed 75 C. Qboard qreative has a surface which is cross-slotted on one side. That enables you to create round shapes with an outer radius of 120 mm or more. To build a wellness couch, first construct a substructure using 50 mm thick Qboard basiq. Then apply Board-Fix in strings to the edges. Glue Qboard qreative onto the substructure with the slotted side facing down. For additional fastening, you can use commercially available universal screws (6 x 120 mm). With Qboard qreative, you can naturally create many other shapes, such as waves, concave or convex curves, too. All you need is a formed substructure. Qboard qreative Qboard qreative Board-Fix 21

23 Individual bathroom furniture Build your individual bench with Qboard qreative With Qboard qreative, you can design your bathroom furniture to suit your taste and wishes. Plan seats and shelves with organic and flowing shapes. Without laying bricks, simply cut it to size. The kicker: Bathroom furniture made of Qboard is resistant to humidity and moisture. When curving inwards, it is recommended to glue Qboard qreative with the slotted side facing up. The open slots must be filled in with tile adhesive using reinforcement mesh. In wet areas (e.g. showers), the complete seating surface must be furnished with a suitable liquid composite seal before tiling. First build a substructure for the bench using 50 mm thick Qboard basiq. The components must be the same size so the seat rests firmly on all elements and does not have any cavities. Glue the sawn elements to the wall and floor with Board-Fix at intervals of approx. 40 cm. Glue Qboard qreative with Board-Fix onto the substructure with the slotted side facing down. For inner radii, the construction board is turned over so that the slotted side faces up. Fasten Qboard qreative additionally with commercially available universal screws (6 x 140 mm) to the substructure. Level out all butt joints and edges with Qboard glass-fibre tape here as well. 24 Individual bathroom furniture Build your stylish bathtub platform with Qboard basiq With Qboard you can build your bathtub platform to suit your individual taste and wishes and transform your bathroom into a wellness oasis. We show you how it is done here: First build a frame structure for the tub platform with your individual dimensions. Use 50 mm thick Qboard basiq for this. Glue the single elements together with Board-Fix. To stabilise the substructure, attach supporting walls to the frame and floor at intervals of approx. 40 cm. Use Board-Fix to fasten the components together and to the floor. Cut the required tub shape out of the cover and fasten this with Board-Fix on the supporting structure. Finally level out all boards joints and visible front edges with glass-fibre or sealing tape. Afterwards you can install the bathtub and immediately start tiling. 25 Individual bathroom furniture Clad your bathtub in a flash with Qboard qladd The Qboard qladd pre-fabricated element enables fast and neat bathtub cladding. Attachment of additional platforms, seating steps and step treads made of Qboard around the tub shape is also easily possible. Cut Qboard qladd to the appropriate height and length and apply Board-Fix to the long and transverse side. Place the elements under the tub edge and position them. The height-adjustable feet enable you to easily smooth out uneven patches of up to 10 cm in raw concrete or screed during installation. Unscrew the height adjustment mechanism of the feet with a spanner until Qboard qladd is securely positioned under the tub edge. 29 Barrier-free showers Design barrier-free showers with Qboard liquid Qboard liquid shower elements combine good appearance and functionality. All elements can be tiled immediately after assembly. The components have a built-in slope which enables optimum water drainage. Together with Qboard construction boards, they can easily be constructed into a complete shower. Individual design elements like recesses, shelves and seating surfaces can also be implemented with Qboard easily, neatly and quickly. The Qboard liquid series creates a level access environment which offers an enormous number of design options. In addition to the standard types, there are many special types for even more barrierfree shower possibilities. Connect the floor drain to the drain pipe and align it height-wise. Fill in the screed recess with cement based levelling screed and trowel it up to the corresponding height. Glue the shower element onto the entire surface of hardened levelling screed. 31 Barrier-free showers Stylish channel drain with Qboard liquid line Qboard liquid line makes showering much more fun. The barrier-free, tileable shower element with an elegant drain channel made of brushed stainless steel lends your shower floor a stylish appearance. Thanks to the one-sided slope, large-sized tiles can be used without diagonal cuts. The special feature: the channel remains either visible with an elegant brushed stainless steel look or the stainless steel grate is inserted upside down and tiled. Can be shortened in length to any desired dimension. Connect the floor drain to the drain pipe and align it to the correct height.
