1 Englisch ETICS Mineral Wool Lamella Insulation Board 3611 WDVS Steinlamellen-Dämmplatte 3611 MW-L 041 WAP, non-combustible, blunt edges, pre-coated on both sides Properties Nichtbrennbar (non-combustible), highly compressed mineral wool insulation board made from mineral raw materials in accordance with DIN EN WAP application type in accordance with DIN with increased tear strength and mineral precoating on both sides. Waterrepellent, water vapor permeable, dimensionally stable under changing temperatures and resistant to aging. The doublesided coating of the lamellae facilitates a particularly efficient application. Field of application Mineral wool lamella insulation boards, tested in the system build-up, for use in the Brillux ETIC system. Insulation thickness of up to 20 cm for facade insulation using a bonding or bonding and anchor technique on buildings that have noncombustibility requirements. Due to the special format, insulation thickness of up to 30 cm is also required to establish fire barriers for flame-retardant ETIC systems with EPS hard foam insulation boards. 2 Use Substrate preparation The substrate must be clean, solid, dry, stable, load-bearing and free from efflorescence, sinter layers and separating agents. The substrate must be pretreated in accordance with its actual condition and the requirements. Remove projecting mortar or concrete parts. The substrate must match the evenness of DIN "measurement tolerances in building construction, Table 3, Flatness Tolerances for Unfinished Walls". Remove greater substrate unevennesses mechanically or compensate these unevennesses with suitable plaster mortar in accordance with DIN EN 998-1, category CS II, CS III or CS IV. Minor substrate unevennesses can be bridged with the adhesive layer. Check existing plaster for its solidity and cavities and existing coatings in terms of their loadbearing capacity. Remove nonbearing plaster and coatings completely. Prime substrates with Lacryl Deep Penetrating Primer ELF 595, as required. The compatibility of any existing coatings with the adhesive mortar must be verified by an expert. Also see VOB Part C, DIN and 18345, respectively Section 3. Gluing of stone lamella insulation boards Apply the ETICS Powder Adhesive 3550, ETICS Powder Adhesive VZ 3600 or ETICS Adhesion and Reinforcement Mortar L 3500 to the entire surface of the load-bearing, even substrate by hand or with a machine and comb through it with a notched trowel, e.g. 10 x 10 mm, before mounting the lamellae. Alternatively the adhesive can also be applied using machines. Using a suitable worm conveyor, apply the relevant adhesive in vertical serpentine strips to the pre-treated substrate, so that the mortar beads cover at least 50 % of the substrate. The mortar strips should be some 3 to 5 cm wide and approx. 1 cm thick. The max. distance between the mortar strips is 10 cm. If uneven areas must to be leveled, apply thin layer of material, allow to cure, and then apply the amount of material required for fixing the boards. After 10 minutes at the latest, from bottom to top, place the mineral-coated gluing side of the ETICS Stone Lamella Insulation Boards 3611 in the wet, open glue bed (in alignment, level and without offset). When fixing the ETICS Stone Lamella Insulation Boards 3611, the boards must be moved back and forth slightly. Skin forming of the adhesive must be avoided. Alternatively, the adhesive can also be applied manually on the whole insulation board surface. To avoid thermal bridges, ensure a tight joint connection and proper, glue-free execution of the insulation board joints. At all building corners, the joints of the insulation boards must be offset and proper horizontal and vertical alignment must be ensured. Data Sheet 3611 Setting up fire barriers When implementing fire barriers, the ETICS mineral wool lamella insulation boards must be fullsurface bonded to the loadbearing, even substrate with ETICS Powder Adhesive 3550, ETICS Powder Adhesive VZ 3600 or ETICS Adhesion and Reinforcement Mortar L To ensure full-surface adhesion, apply the adhesive mortar in a combined procedure with a notched trowel to the substrate and to the back of the insulation board. In this context, the grooving should be aligned in transverse directions (once horizontally and once vertically). The quantity of adhesive used is dependent on the substrate unevenness that has to be evened out. The grooving must be aligned accordingly. It may also be appropriate to use thicker insulation to compensate for larger distances to the surface of the facade insulation. Move the ETICS mineral wool lamella insulation boards back and forth slightly when gluing them to the substrate. The full-surface bonded fire barriers for protection against fire from the outside (base fire barriers) are always to be anchored with 3 ETICS anchors distributed across the middle of each lamella insulation board's surface. All other fire barriers for protection against interior fire (room fire) are to be anchored on a non-bearing substrate for a statically relevant system anchoring. Cutting insulation boards to size The individual insulation boards can be cut to size with a cutter or a saw. Further information can be found in the Brillux tool product range. Bridging of the joint areas Bridge the transition or joint area by at least 10 cm with the insulation board for composite constructions (e.g. concreteskeleton construction with brickwork infill), facade cracks or joints on prefabricated buildings. Do not arrange the board joints congruently. The existing expansion joints in the substrate are to be adopted as is. ing of the insulation boards After drying, the ETICS Mineral Wool Lamella Insulation Boards 3611 must be anchored with approved ETICS anchors in accordance with the substrate condition and application. Please follow the following instructions on anchoring. 4 ing of the ETICS Mineral Wool Lamella Insulation Board 3611 Composite thermal insulation systems are constantly subject to the influence of the weather (due to wind, etc.) and permanent dead weight (due to their own weight). In order to support or compensate for these loads and to ensure the long-term functioning of the systems, the German General Building Inspection System Approvals govern whether and, if yes, how a system has to be additionally anchored depending on the respective object conditions. When applying ETICS Mineral Wool Lamella Insulation Boards 3611, a distinction is made, depending on the substrate used, between a) only bonded b) bonded and anchored with statically-relevant anchoring a) only bonded A statically-relevant anchoring is not required for substrates with a tear strength 0.08 N/mm² and a wind pressure of up to -1.6 kn/m² in accordance with DIN EN /NA. The required tear strength can be presumed for untreated substrates made of brickwork in accordance with DIN 1053 without plaster, concrete in accordance with DIN 1045 without plaster, without any further examination. The ETICS insulation boards can generally also be bonded to uncoated, firmly adherent plaster (plaster mortar made from inorganic bonding agents from the category CS II and CS III in accordance with DIN EN 998-1) without additional anchoring. All other substrates must be examined by an expert. If necessary, the technical consultant can be consulted as part of the Brillux Object Service to assess whether anchoring is required. Data Sheet 3611 ing on "bondable substrates" An additional anchoring must also be implemented on "bondable substrates" with a wind pressure -1.6 kn/m² in accordance with the German General Building Inspection Approval No. Z ETICS Mineral Wool Lamella Insulation Boards 3611 must be anchored to "bondable substrates" with a wind pressure -1.6 kn/m² to -2.2 kn/m² taking into account the wind loads in accordance with DIN EN /NA. Please refer to Table 1 below for information and a figure relating to the "anchor quantity and arrangement". Substrate unevennesses of up to max. 1 cm/m may be bridged with "only bonded" ETICS insulation boards. Ceramic coverings When using ceramic coverings as a top coat, it is important to follow the specific instructions on anchoring in accordance with the German General Building Inspection Approval No. Z and the "Ceramic Coverings" Data Sheet 5kb1. 6 b) bonded and anchored with statically-relevant anchoring In accordance with the German General Building Inspection Approval No. Z and taking into account the wind loads in accordance with DIN EN /NA, the ETICS Mineral Wool Lamella Insulation Boards 3611 must be anchored with statically-relevant anchoring on all other stable, load-bearing substrates, e.g. concrete or brickwork with intact coating, decorative plaster or with a tear strength < 0.08 N/mm². The following information applies to an anchoring under the mesh with approved ETICS anchors combined with the ETICS Plate 3711, Type SBL plus, ( 140 mm). Substrate unevennesses of up to max. 2 cm/m can be bridged for statically-relevant anchored ETICS insulation boards. Information In statically-relevant anchoring of the ETICS Mineral Wool Lamella Insulation Boards 3611 (in accordance with table 2), the cost-effectiveness of the application should be examined. Other ETICS mineral wool insulation boards may be used as an alternative. The ETICS anchor to be used and the resulting anchoring depth are dependent on the substrate. A "mattress effect" (due to screwing the anchor in too deeply) must be avoided. Determining wind load The wind loads for staticallyrelevant anchoring must be calculated in accordance with DIN EN /NA. The anchor quantities can be stipulated in line with the information below in accordance with calculated max. wind loads depending on the anchor load class. Further information on calculating the wind loads is available in the "ETICS Wind Loads 5b05" Technical Information Sheet. 9 Notes Cables on the exterior wall If cables are installed on the exterior wall, it is important to mark their paths on the insulation board to avoid damage (resulting from additional mechanical mounting) to them. Reveal formation To form the insulation in the reveal area, it is necessary to vary the insulation board thickness such that the frames of windows and doors of the same width remain visible and such that the edges of the reveals of structural openings located one above the other are aligned vertically.
