The company is required to pay off the loan by making a single payment after five years. In order to have the cash available to make this payment, it has decided that annual payments will be made into a sinking fund that compounds interest annually at 5%. The first payment into the fund will be made one year after the loan was taken out, and the last payment will be made on the day the loan is repaid.
