21 Managed Motorways Report to Ministers Christmas 2008 led to current programme: Detailed programme of option assessments Where, when and how capacity enhancements could be implemented via MM including DHS (Dynamic use of the Hard Shoulder), TJR (Through Junction Running) and Controlled Motorways M42 concepts The role for other forms of capacity management, e.g. Crawler lanes, High Occupancy Vehicle lanes, Bus lanes & Single Lane Tolling What other actions will be necessary to deliver the programme, notably orders & funding programmes

31 The National Vehicle Recovery Project Key strategic objectives New powers for traffic officers Contract to remove vehicles and their loads from our network New powers for Traffic Officers Removal and Disposal of Vehicles by Traffic Officers (England) Regulations 2008 Provide traffic officers with similar powers to the police, to request removal of, or remove abandoned, broken down and accident damaged vehicles. Provide the Secretary of State for Transport to recover charges in respect of vehicles removed, stored or disposed of under the regulations. Provide the Secretary of State for Transport with powers to store and dispose of abandoned vehicles. Contract awarded 1 Oct 08 to FMG Support fully operational but some issues emerging data capture at source not quite right!
