1 PVC pressure pipe (grey) PVC pressure pipe is used for the transport of liquids under pressure. The product range is divided into various pressure classes that indicate the maximum working pressure. The maximum permissible pressure in practice may be lower due to higher external loads, chemical and/or temperature influences, but also due to the possible occurrence of water hammer. The large number of pressure classes (up to 16 bar) makes it easy to select a stronger pipe if external factors have an influence on the pipe. PVC pressure pipes are available in diameters from 10 mm to 400 mm. PVC pipe systems offer great ease of application, a few benefits are: Lightweight, easy to use, wide variety of fittings and a long service life. Large number of diameters and pressure classes Supplied as standard in PVC-U Available with glued socket or as plain-end pipe Suitable for both underground and above-ground installation PVC is temperature-sensitive. All pressure classes indicated are based on standard situations at 20 C Transport of liquids and/or solutions under pressure at max. 45 C. Note: PVC is not suitable for use in compressed air systems. A strengthening of the material (reinforcement factor) can be expected at temperatures below 20 C, but the material then also becomes more brittle. In view of the decreasing admissible pressure at higher temperatures, we recommend the use of PVC-U up to 45 C. Resistance PVC is resistant to most acids, salts and lyes soluble in water. PVC is not resistant to aromatic and chlorinated hydrocarbons, esters, ethers, ketones and phenol. 3.1

2 Installation & maintenance Inspect the pipes before use and do not use pipes that have obvious deviations or which do not fit properly. The joints of the PVC pipes and the method of suspension or burying in the ground determine to a great extent the overall strength of the installation. Failure to observe the instructions can result in a significant weakening of the installation. During the processing of the PVC pipes, attention must be paid to both the installation instructions and the local conditions. For underground application, the soil should be free of stones and free of possible subsidence. If necessary, use refill sand and ensure uniform compaction around the pipe. For applications in soft ground, a higher pressure class is recommended. Prior to the cold season, PVC pipes and fittings must be drained to avoid damage due to freezing. Below +5 C transport, handling and processing must be performed carefully (gluing is not recommended), and transport and handling should be avoided below -5 C. BureauLeiding in Leidschendam (+31 (0) ) will be happy to provide information. PVC-C (optional) PVC-C is a chlorinated PVC. PVC-C has a number of distinctive properties compared with PVC-U that offer an important added value for pipework systems. The two most important and most essential differences are the higher temperature resistance up to 80 C and the outstanding chemical resistance at higher temperatures. PVC-C is glued using special PVC-C glue. 3.2

3 PVC pressure pipe (white/black) White PVC pressure pipe is produced by co-extrusion of white (outer layer) and dark grey (inner layer) raw materials. This pipe has maximum light reflection, resulting in a lower water temperature and hence less growth of algae in the pipe. The pipe has a moulded adhesive insert and a chamfered end for easier gluing. 4 PVC sprinkler pipe (blue or grey) PVC sprinkler pipes are generally used as transport lines in irrigation systems for both drip irrigation, sprinkler systems and ebb and flood systems. Available with glued joint or as plain-end pipe Supplied with a moulded adhesive insert (from 16 mm dia.) and a chamfered end for easier gluing Available with predrilled 3/8 WW, M11 or M6 threaded hole for irrigation sprinklers (both on request). Standard drilling distances are 75, 100, 150 cm (for installation in 25, 32, 40 and 50 mm dia. pipe). Other spacings on request For CO2 installations the pipes can be supplied from mm with 2.5 mm dia. holes (drilled on one or two sides). We recommend the use of a pipe with min. 2.0 mm wall thickness for applications with rotating greenhouse sprinklers, or the use of the white sprinkler pipe, a special pipe with thicker points for the drill holes. 3.4

5 PVC sprinkler pipe (white/black) - Sprayplus A special sprinkler pipe is the white sprinkler pipe for the installation of greenhouse sprinklers. These pipes have a thicker wall at the location of the threaded hole so that the sprinkler to be installed has more grip on the pipe wall. Predrilled 3/8 WW or M11 threaded holes for irrigation sprinklers in 25/32/40 mm dia. at 75, 100 and 150 cm intervals. 6 PVC pressure pipe with KIWA certification Pressure pipe with KIWA certification is used in drinking water systems where a maximum working pressure up to 16 bar is required. The pressure pipe is made from special KIWA raw material that gives off no odour or taste to the water. 7 PVC pressure pipe with ring sealed connection The PVC pressure pipe with ring sealed connection is used when glued joints are not possible (low temperature, damp conditions) or not desirable (due to large diameters). The flexibility of the ring sealed connections allows elongation and shrinkage in longitudinal direction to be absorbed. Ensure that there is a chamfer (fitting edge) at the spigot end. Clean both the ring seal and the pipe end before assembly and coat the ring seal with a lubricant. Avoid hitting the pipe directly due to collisions. Use a piece of wood as protection. Pipes must not be assembled with high mechanical forces (from crane or loading shovel). Pay attention at bends, branches, wells, etc. that the pipe is sufficiently secured to prevent slipping. Provide pull resistance at bends and connections by installing props on both sides of the bend. The angular displacement must not exceed 5. Ensure good compaction of the soil around the pipe in the trench. 3.7

8 PVC RWD Pipe with ring sealed connection Rain Water Discharge pipe with ring sealed connection is used in (practically) pressure-free applications when glued joints are not possible due to diameters being too large or the temperatures too low in damp conditions. The pipe is produced in a co-extrusion process with an inner and outer layer of new PVC and an intermediate layer of (expanded or non-expanded) recycled PVC. The pipe fully satisfies the relevant standards for solid-wall pipes of the same class, but has the advantage of a lower weight. Processing is thus easier. Available in 3 different classes (SN 2, 4 and 8) Flexible ring sealed connections so that elongation and shrinkage in longitudinal direction is absorbed Rain water discharge pipes with ring sealed connection can be used both above ground and underground in practically pressure-free rain water discharge or CO2 installations. Rain water discharge pipes with ring sealed connection cannot be used as a suction line. The pipe is produced in a co-extrusion process with an inner and outer layer of new PVC and an intermediate layer of (expanded or non-expanded) recycled PVC. The pipe fully satisfies the relevant standards for solid-wall pipes of the same class, but has the advantage of a lower weight. Processing is thus easier. 10 PVC filter pipe Filter pipes are made from PVC with various slots and diameters. The pipes are used i.a. as coarse filters in suction lines of irrigation systems. The filter pipes are installed, for example, in locks, reservoirs and water tanks to prevent damage to the pump due to coarse particles in the water. PN (bar) Installation & maintenance Avoid laying the filter pipe on the bottom of the reservoir, tank or lock. Install the filter pipe +/- 30 cm above the bottom. Ensure that the filter pipe lies sufficiently under water so that no air is drawn in. For applications in lock or reservoir, the filter pipe can be installed on a float +/- 30 cm under the water surface. 3.10
