Minor Use Pesticide Problem

Minor Use Problem Today Registrations are plentiful but options can be limited (i.e. MRLs with trading partners, pest resistance, use restrictions) Companies more active with registering many specialty crops Efficacy data needs increasing

Research Objective 1 Food Crop Program EPA established pesticide tolerances supporting 309 registrations IR-4 submitted 43 petitions to EPA addressing 221 specific IR-4 requests for assistance. IR-4 submitted cucurbit vegetables crop group. Slide 8

Research Objective 2 IR-4 Ornamental Program IR 4 data were used in 6 registration decisions and amendments; supporting use on > 1500 species IR 4 conducted 685 research trials; 22 new data summaries were compiled and submitted to industry.

Research Objective 3 Biopesticide & Organic Support Program EPA approved one new registration (Tobacco Mild Green Mosaic tobamovirus) and two registration expansions that support an additional 125 new uses of biopesticides. IR 4 submitted an amendment for HopsBeta acid to manage Varroa mites in honey bees Revamped grants program

Research Objective 4 Public Health Pesticides Regulatory support for Attractive Toxic/Targeted Sugar Baits (ATSB), a new class of repellents and toxicants, autodissemination devices, ect IR 4 expanded and substantially revised the Public Health Pesticide database that emphasizes the identification of underutilized chemicals
