8 PARTNERSHIP FOR ACTION ON GREEN ECONOMY The Partnership for Action on Green Economy (PAGE) is a principal response to the outcome document of the Rio+20 Conference, which recognizes the green economy as a vehicle for sustainable development and poverty eradication. PAGE aims to support 20 countries to 2020 in building national green economy strategies that will generate new jobs and skills, promote clean technologies, and reduce environmental risks and poverty. Mongolia was the first country to join the PAGE. Specific Areas of PAGE Support in Mongolia: Green Economy Modelling and Policy Assessment Working with MEGDT and the Ministry of Finance UNDP, UNITAR and UNEP are supporting capacity building for long-term macro-economic planning and forecasting through system dynamics modelling linked to the GDP. Green Development Indicators The National Statistics Office of Mongolia and MEDGT, together with ILO, UNEP and UNITAR are developing and supporting the adoption of green economy indicators and measurements, taking into account the emerging Sustainable Development Goals. Sustainable Public Procurement Led by the Ministry of Finance and with the support from UNEP, this work stream focuses on the inclusion of sustainability in the national legal framework for public procurement. Green Schools and Kindergarten In collaboration with the MEGDT, UNEP is supporting the development of green building codes and policies in Mongolia starting with new education building constructed with public funds. NATIONAL PAGE PARTNERS Ministry of Environment, Green Development, and Tourism (MEGDT) Ministry of Finance (MoF) The National Statistical Office (NSO) Economic Policy and Competitiveness Research Center (EPCRC) Mongolian National University (MNU) INTERNATIONAL COLLABORATION Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI) Tongji University Millennium Institute (MI) Sustain Labour National Waste Management Strategy PAGE partners, through UNEP and UNIDO, are supporting applied research to explore recycling opportunities under the National Waste Programme. Green Economy Learning Strategy MEGDT and UNITAR are working together to develop a National Green Learning Strategy and deliver green economy learning through national institutions.
