Analyse the social and economic impacts of digitisation on agriculture and rural areas (costs, benefits and possible trade-offs) Employment and quality of life, functioning of markets and value chains, competitiveness and scalable opportunities and (re)deployment of public services Explore future scenarios for digitisation Cover a representative set of different rural contexts and activities existing across the EU RIA : 5M : : : 1 projet
12 Call 3 Rural renaissance RUR : Contracts for effective and lasting delivery of agri-environmental public goods (AEPG) Promote collective actions to provide environmental public goods in domains such as biodiversity, water, carbon sequestration and recreation over a long time-frame. Explore ways of coupling public and/or private incentives to the delivery of one or more AEPG at land and value chain levels Review and investigate existing and new initiatives addressing the delivery of AEPG and their longevity New approaches to improve cooperation between farmers as well as between farmers and other stakeholders Analyse how duties and responsibilities are shared in arrangements between two or more parties Diversity of European situations SSH, economic sciences RIA : 5M : : : 3 projets

14 Call 3 Rural renaissance CE-RUR : Closing nutrient cycles Address inter- and intra-regional imbalances in nutrient due to agro-food specialisation through effective nutrient recovery from by-products of the agro-food or forestry sectors, and conversion into novel fertilisers to reduce the use of mineral-based fertilisation Understanding properties and impacts of bio-based fertilisers [2018] Generate a knowledge basis for novel fertilizers Identify environmental impacts, agronomic performance, safety & quality of available and under development products Nutrient imbalance analysis between regions in EU Propose reliable analytical measurment and testing methods for future compliance checks Basis for future policies related to new bio-based products RIA : 6M : : : 1 projet

16 Call 3 Rural renaissance DT-RUR : ICT Innovation for agriculture Digital Innovation Hubs for Agriculture Facilitate the adoption and widespread transfer of ICT-based solutions for agriculture for European agriculture to gain a decisive competitive advantage IA : 10M : : 2 projets Promoting sustainable Digital Innovation Hubs in agriculture Address the adoption of ICT-based solutions for more productive and sustainable agriculture systems Customize, integrate, test and validate innovative technologies together by technology developers and the farming community Strengthen SMEs & start-ups linked to innovative agri-business and/or service models (50% of budget to SMEs) Cover most European regions
17 Call 3 Rural renaissance RUR : Enabling the farm advisor community to prepare farmers for the digital age Connect advisors in order to share ICT tools and create spill-overs across different regions on digital transformation processes. Build farm advisory services to facilitate and support farmers in orienting themselves in the digital landscape. Collect best practice ICT applications and share them in a network of independent advisors Develop advisors ability to support farmers on novel on-farm technologies and the related costs and benefits Sufficient coverage of various cropping and livestock systems and farm sizes across all EU Member States Include farmers and farmers organisations CSA : 7M : : 1 projet (at least 5y)
