2 IT PAYS TO APPLY ESSENTIAL MICRONUTRIENTS Everyone understands N, P, K and S, but essential micronutrients can sometimes be a little trickier. To reach the best yields possible, it is crucial micronutrients are applied at the right time and in the right form to maximize plant development. If you don t have enough boron (B) or chlorine (Cl) in the plants and soil, your crop yield will put the brakes on just as hard as when the nitrogen fuel gauge is on empty. To apply essential micronutrients correctly, there are additional features to consider: 1. Some don t move they are immobile. When the seedling needs zinc (Zn), it needs it right by the seed it can t go looking through the soil for it. Seed applied products like UFA s Amplify ensures those nutrients are placed where needed and are in a soluble form, allowing easy uptake from the soil solution. 2. Different forms of essential micronutrients should be applied in different ways. A universal product in one form for both soil and foliar applications is not the best decision. UFA s essential micronutrients are not all formulated the same; they are built to achieve best results for the method of application. UFA micronutrients are soluble. UFA foliar micronutrients are tank mixable with most crop protection products. 3. Micronutrients are needed in different amounts at different growth phases or times. Application of essential nutrition at flowering is critical (like copper (Cu), zinc (Zn), boron (B), calcium (Ca) and manganese (Mn)). Jarrett Chambers, President of ATP Nutrition points out We need 200-0% more of these non-mobile nutrients in the reproductive parts of the plant than within the leaf. As Chambers further explains, early flowering time is our kiss of death in providing essential nutrition and preserving yield. The reason is that the plant respires and uses water through its highgrowth periods more early than later. Nutrient laden water is drawn into the plant from roots as it respires at the leaf and the rate of that loss of water at the leaf surface defines how much water laden with essential nutrition is drawn up or sucked up the xylem. The plant at flowering time is not using water at the same rate it was during early growth. As a consequence it needs less water to be brought up the xylem. The issue that develops is that essential micronutrients like zinc (Zn), copper (Cu), manganese (Mn) and boron (B) are needed at flowering time at the top of the plant and it has to arrive from the soil. It becomes more of a challenge as the plant ripens because it needs more of that essential nutrition and water use is getting less and less. This is a problem. The Solution! A foliar supplement plan with Magnify or Multiply for those essential micronutrients that don t move or need to be in reproductive parts at the top of the plant when water movement from the roots decreases. Choosing essential nutrient products should be based on three things: 1. Size (smaller molecules are better) requires less energy to utilize. 2. Soluble (the more soluble the better entry into the plant less energy to use it). 3. It should be in a form that the plant can readily use without expending energy to convert to a usable form. The plant at flowering stage is still an energy machine. Reducing the energy required by the plant to convert these nutrients allows it to produce more pods, more seeds, more yield. As Jarrett Chambers adds, small and soluble is the ticket to get it into the plant and conserve that energy. That is one of the secrets in the formulated products ATP Nutrition makes for UFA including Magnify and Multiply. Darold Niwa, Agronomy Specialist with UFA, looks at it this way, farmers have a simple job that is never simple - making photosynthesis more efficient and protecting yield. It s our job to help with that. One additional key ingredient that Niwa believes is invaluable in the UFA line up of essential micronutrient products is Transit-S. The science behind it proves that nutrient delivery is enhanced and photosynthetic capacity is increased when it s part of the foliar program. UFA essential micronutrient products were created for the farmer who wants to achieve the best return from every acre.

3 Amplify root development and plant health Amplify is an innovative seed nutrient dressing formulated to maximize seedling vigour and early root development by addressing the nutrient imbalances in your seed. Amplify combines an NPK-based formulation with a high load of essential micronutrients and proprietary metabolic activators to cold-start your canola, pulse or cereal crop. The key metabolic triggers are Transit-S Technology and ATP Nutrition s proprietary rooting compounds. Transit-S increases the photosynthetic capacity of the plant and, when combined with proper nutrients and compounds, accelerates root development and overall plant health better than other products in the industry. (See charts.) Compatible with most seed treatments*, Amplify is the first key stage in ATP s System of Chemtrition. Getting the crop off to a good start is critical. Combining Amplify with an in-crop application of Magnify at herbicide timing and a final application of Multiply at fungicide timing completes the System of Chemtrition and helps preserve the genetic potential of your crop. 4 Magnify root and seedling development Magnify is part of an in-crop, foliar nutrient management plan that boosts nutrient uptake through the leaf and metabolic activity in the plant. A properly-timed application of Magnify at herbicide timing will maximize root and seedling development, preventing restricted root systems caused by abiotic and biotic stresses to young plants. Magnify is specifically formulated for each crop to deliver it s genetic potential. Available crop specialties include Magnify Cereal, Magnify Canola, and Magnify Pulse. The key metabolic triggers are Transit-S Technology and ATP Nutrition s proprietary rooting compounds. Transit-S increases the photosynthetic capacity of the plant and, when combined with proper nutrients and compounds, accelerates root development and overall plant health better than other products in the industry. (See chart.) Magnify is formulated to meet the early needs of your canola, pulse or cereal crop with an NPK base and a high load of essential micronutrients. It s designed to be safe on your crop and compatible with most herbicides*. Together with Amplify and Multiply, Magnify is part of ATP Nutrition s System of Chemtrition, designed to preserve the genetic potential of your canola, cereal or pulse crops. 5 Multiply plant health and yield Multiply is the second and final part of our in-crop foliar nutrient management plan, designed specifically to meet the nutrient demands of your canola, cereal or pulse crop at the reproductive stage. Multiply is specifically formulated for each crop to deliver it s genetic potential. Available crop specialties include Multiply Cereal, Multiply Canola, and Multiply Pulse. Multiply combines an innovative NPK-based formulation with a high load of essential micronutrients to maximize nutrient uptake to the leaf and add a Chemtrition effect to your existing fungicide program. Radioisotope research shows this formulation increases uptake by 59% and subsequent translocation in the plant by 31% compared to other products. A properly timed application of Multiply with your fungicide capitalizes on this added efficiency to improve the flowering, pollination and seed set of your canola, cereal or pulse crop, leading to optimal plant health and yield. (See charts.) Together with Amplify and Magnify, Multiply is part of ATP Nutrition s System of Chemtrition, designed to preserve the genetic potential of your canola, cereal or pulse crops. Multiply is formulated to be safe on your flowering crop and compatible with your fungicide program.* Multiply is available in 10 L jugs or 1,000 L totes. Canola Yield.
