The Corn crop in the Iye Kitu Village was an important step in promoting the agricultural history of the Pueblo and installing a program for including the community in raising corn in a visible area. It is anticipated that as the community becomes more involved the program will also expand in size and scope.

Building Repair and Infrastructure Interior renovations to facilities at Old Chilicote Fencing Repair along the Southern Border Installation of additional water tanks and water troughs Installation of FEMA trailers and utilities upgrades
Natural Resources Conservation Service Conservation Stewardship Program The Ranch has provide evidence of conservation practices Water troughs retrofitted with wildlife escapes Maps documenting the movement of cattle while pasturing Maps documenting the location of supplemental feed use Testing cattle for nutritional balance
Water Trough improvements Under the NRCS CSP program the Ranch has successfully installed wildlife escapes to over 120 water troughs. This work has added value to each trough and helps to provide improvements to the ecosystem.
Bulldozer work at the Ranch The new bulldozer is being used to repair ranch roads and re-cut roads to get to the higher elevations of the ranch. With drought conditions persisting it becomes essential that all areas of the ranch can be reached by vehicle. By repairing roads to the higher elevations, those pastures will be utilized and water infrastructure can be installed.
Drought Mitigation strategies Greater use of supplemental feed to improve cattle weight Reducing animal unit numbers, fewer cattle No hunts for Mule deer this last year Water infrastructure system expanded in the Durazno pasture with additional water infrastructure higher elevation areas USDA Subsidized water drought insurance participation
Chilicote Ranch Planning Division of labor Hospitality- summer rental program and guests throughout year, includes facility maintenance Ranching- Sale of cattle in a traditional cow calf operation and water infrastructure for both cattle and wildlife operation Road Maintenance- proper transportation to all pastures in the ranch Hunting- seasonal hunts that require guides and assistance from the wildlife committee.
