6 PHYLOSOPHY Technologies for pig production In the process of renewal of technologies we have prepared a brand new complex of equipment for feeding and stabling. We have also prepared inovated systems of ventilation including a brand new DATA LOGGER for the control of ventilation systems in your stables. Experience that we have from cooperation with companies from the USA, Denmark and Germany together with test run on big foreign farms that we have built shows us the right direction to go. Technologies for poultry production We have delivered many projects including building of stables on green sites or reconstructions of existing stables. We offer and deliver construction and technological parts. Specificity of our deliveries is package of our highly modern system of microclima management BAUER, which includes ventilation systems, heating systems, cooling systems. All parts ensures maximal efficiency of poultry breeding. The new is microclima monitoring using the BAUER DATALOGGER (temperature, relative humidity, NH3 a CO2). Technologies for the processing of slurry BAUER offers a complete range of equipment for processing, transportation, composting, storing and application of slurry. Complete range of pumps, mixers, tanks and applicators including the possibility of storing a slurry in above ground steel or concrete tanks or lagoons allowing the dealing with random demands. To make the complex work properly and reliably, it s necessary to have not only the appropriate technologies but also an especially experienced team of specialists such as - designers, construction engineers, livestock specialists, feed specialists, geneticists, electricians and other professions. 11 FARMS FOR CATTLE STABLES FOR TEMPERATE REGIONS In areas, where the temperature doesn t exceed 30 C in summer and doesn t fall below -20 C in winter, we design conventional naturaly ventilated stables with simple construction of 24-32/36m span (4-6 rowed stabling forf milking cows), with the slope of the roof 22-25, which provides good ventilation in summer and prevent condensation of water vapour during winter times. Variably stable can be designed with thermally insulated roof system (preventing influence of high temperatures in summer time). STABLES FOR COLD REGIONS In extremely cold areas it s necessary to design a construction which provides the most optimal enviroment for animals and functionality of all technological units. Mainly the removal of slurry, drinking and ventilation. Our stables are equipped with special thermally insulated ventilation walls and closeable roof ridge ventilation hole. STABLES FOR WARM AND HOT REGIONS In areas with significantly warm or hot climate we design open (cold) stables equipped with cooling systems. For these conditions we design several types of ventilation, mainly with the help of large dimension fans (variantly in combination with water cooling). MONOBLOCK STABLES(WITH CROSSWISE VENTILATION) Special low-profile construction of stables with the width of or more meters (8-rowed stabling) are new in designing of stables for milking cows. They allow all year round control of mocriclima and decreasing of expenses for one laying bed. 10

The basis of the unit is an air pump with rotating pistons. An important part of the unit is the puls frequency regulator that greatly reduces the price of milking. Transportation of milk collecting container with pump This unit is used for collecting milk from the connected milking pipeline. In large milking parlours we recommend making a double arrangement of milking equipment. On each side of the milking parlour we recommend installing one collecting container with a pump. This method of instalation allows alternative milking on each side of milking parlour. 22 MILKING TECHNOLOGIES Automation of milking The automation controls progress of milking and on the basis of specific signals manages the whole process with the goal of milking the cow quickly. The management centre of the whole milking parlor is the world known managing program AFIFARM (manufacturer S.A.E. Afikim, Israel). A very important part of the system is an identification marker, so called PEDOMETER, which is fastened to a cow s back foot. With the help of receiving antennas, which are placed in the milking parlour, the data is collected and transferred for further processing. Besides the code of the pedometer, which is assigned to the identification number of a cow, it contains a sensor for counting the cow s steps. This entry is analysed after the transmission to the computer. It is used for determining if a cow is in the heat, or it can be used for considering the state of health of a cow, for breeding work, record keeping, etc Significant parts of the automation are pulsators, control valves and reading devices. An electromagnetic asynchronous pulsator (type PAE 2, 3) is constructed with filtered air input. The construction of the control valves is similar to the pulsators, this is an advantage because of the unification of spare parts. The receiving device is a plastic or stainless steel cylinder, which takes the milking machine down from an udder by the help of string that is fastened with disjoining snap-hook. Washing and disinfecting automat The disinfection machine MA-120 ( 180 ) named MYVAL allows automatic dosing of disinfection liquid. This machine guarantees the required concentration of disinfection solution and optimizes consumption of disinfection materials. Milk lines, disinfection lines and lines of partial vacuum air Low pressure milk lines with the dimensions, that allows the fastest and smoothest transport of milk, are made from high quality stainless steel which is mainly used in the food industry. Minimal number of joints assures perfect cleaning of the system even in the biggest milking parlors. 24 MILKING TECHNOLOGIES PIPELINE MILKING EQUIPMENT CLASSIC PIPELINE MILKING FOR BINDING STABLES The pneumatic pipeline of the milking machine is placed directly in the dairy cow stable. It consists of dairy and pressure pipes running the entire length of the stable and can be positioned as required. The source of the vacuum - the vacuum pump, the drainage of the milk into the cooling tank, the pipe rinsing and milking itself are all controlled by a control unit, which can be moved along between each dairy cow. Slubber milking guarantees consistent milk properties and hygienically clean milk. The customer can choose from a variety of designs. When the cow enter the place for milking, the robot identifies her and checks the interval from last milking. After that udders are disinfected, milking device is installed on the udders and milking bigins with first few suctions of milk. Robot analyses the possibility of mastitis as well. Cow is milked only in case that everything is as it should be. If the robot reveals signs of inflammatory ilnesses a cow is milked as well but the milk is transported to the tank that is used for collecting of milk from cows with mastitis and other healed cows, etc. When a cow is milked properely the udders are automaticly disinfected, washed with water and set ready for next use. 23

Breeding, pregnancy, post calving checks, and veterinary treatment for sick cows is just a short-list of checks and examinations that farmers have to perform regularly. Tracking, selecting and monitoring is an important and demanding task for the herdsman. It is time consuming, requiring data analysis, and can often result in animals being left unattended. On a farm, tracing the targeted cows among an anonymous mass is as time consuming as finding a needle in a haystack. This task requires extra hands on the dairy farm. The AfiSort Automated Cow traffic control system is the most efficient solution for treating cows in a dairy farm. 46 BAUER AFIWEIGHT, IDEAL Afiweight AfiWeigh is an AfiMilk module that automatically determines a cow s body weight and stores it in the AfiMilk database. The AfiWeigh system consists of one or multiple weighing platforms installed on the route cows follow when approaching or departing the milking parlor. Each cow walking over the weighing platform, is automatically identified and weighed. The data downloaded into the cow s individual database enables generation of body weightbased reports which are an essential component in successful dairy farm management. WHY SHOULD COWS BE WEIGHED? The dry period and postpartum period of a dairy cow determines productive and reproductive performance during lactation. High yielding cows in the post partum transition phase require more energy than they consume to produce milk (fat) and to maintain their body weight. These animals may therefore experience a substantial negative energy balance that is associated with a high risk of metabolic disorders and health problems. Post partum cows usually start to regain body weight and energy balance days after calving. Cows that fail to reach these targets are at risk both regarding milk production and reproduction. It is vitally important therefore, to monitor changes in body condition during lactation in order to recognize and treat cows vulnerable to calving and metabolic disorders. BENEFITS AfiWeigh is a decision support tool that significantly improves operational efficiency in addition to increasing the entire production of the herd. Accurate on-the-farm animal IDeal identification and data recording is a pre-condition for ensuring efficient dairy management. High levels of animal ID is the primary factor for the success of any automated data collection system. Afi IDeal identification system is an important component of every AFI system. It is comprised of three main components IDeal Controller, antennas and AfiTag an ID transponder and pedometer attached to the cow's leg. The AfiIDeal is an electronic system, using low power radio frequency transmission for transmitting information from the cow to the computerized system. The IDeal system is compliant with all the regulations for transmitting systems in Europe and in North America. The IDeal system serves the different Afi modules (AfiMilk, AfiSort, AfiWeigh ) as an identification system, while in the AfiAct system it is recording the animals' activity. There is one thing on which we, in the AfiMilk group do not compromise the quality and reliability of the information gathered by our sensors. With this in mind, we designed our IDeal system for milking parlors to identify the cows at the milking point rather than at the parlor entrance. Free group stabling of dairy cows in individual boxes is a system, which meets the needs and comfort requirements of animals throughout their life and production cycles. A well-designed box has a major effect on breeding success, which is why we offer a complete barrier system for all categories of animals. Behind the apparently simple shape of the barrier there are dozens of hours spent monitoring the physiology of dairy cattle. The barriers are made from steel tubing with no surface finish, or from galvanized steel tubes. They are supplied with all accessories and connection pieces, based on the client s requirements. We install shovels that have been produced using years of experience in stables for cattle and pigs under a wide variety of different climate conditions in a great many countries. We offer digital or analogue controled unit. Naturally they feature automatic shut-down if an obstacle is hit. 51 SLURRY SYSTEMS SLURRY STORAGE The basic option is to store slurry in tanks. In terms of costs, tanks above ground are better than sunken tanks, and it makes it easier to check for manure leaks into the subsoil. We generally build high-capacity steel tanks (enamelled) or concrete of 3-10,000 m3. They are equipped with full mixing and pumping technology. Another alternative is storage in reservoirs in the earth. We have managed to develop a new type with double sheeting and a control system, which is much more stable and simpler to use than reservoirs used in the past. The cost is less than /m³. ROOFING FOR TANKS: Fitting a roof on the tanks is cheaper and easier. For this purpose we offer the following type of roofing: d floating (sheeting on floats) d tent made of sheeting on supports (also for large-diameter tanks) d metal roof (for smaller diameters) SLURRY PROCESSING The basic method of processing manure is homogenization before further processing or application. An ideal alternative is manure separation as the first stage of treatment. Separation reduces the amount of manure to be stored, solid manure, and the manure then does not need to be homogenized as often. The solid part sells well packed, makes compost or has other uses during the vegetation period. We offer a BAUER worm separator with an output of 8-15m3/hr. Tha FAN company developed a special separator PSS Green Beding for slurry separation for the purpose of using solid fractin as a bedding. Achieved dryness of the solid part is about 36%, thus about 6-7% higher then from the clasic worm separators. A liquid fraction can be cleaned in a centrifugal pump. BAUER offers biogass reactors with two-chamber system and an ideal flow of slurry. The ractor is designed as a concere or steel thermaly insulated reservoir with permanent gravity circulation. There are no mechanical parts in the reactor, meaning mixers, which allows to process the substrate with high concentration of materials (slurry up to 12%). SLURRY A MANURE COMPOSTERS An ideal mean of composting is a BAUER mobile or stationary device. It allows to compost manure or slurry in combination with other materials (straw and ther organic materials). The device we supply in four stationary versions and one mobile version. STABLE CONSTRUCTION We offer complete delivery of building work, reconstruction and new, ready-to-use constructions. Our design studio draws up the plans and in our plants we make all steel constructions as well as atypical structures to suit your requirements. 53 WATER RECYCLING WATER RECYCLING BAUER offers an economical system of sluice water recycling. The disinfection machine can be equipped with a system for draining the disinfection solution into a special tank. The water collected can then be used to rinse the floors and walls of the milking house or for cleaning gangways. It only collects service water with a disinfection solution, which is important from an ecological point of view as the acidity and alkalinity of the solution are neutralized in the tank. This facility significantly cuts water consumption. AFIWASH AfiWash is a programmable device for controlling a washing and disinfection system in milking parlors - CIP. AfiWash was built to support most of the existing CIP systems and techniques, whether incorporating a wash sink or not. AfiWash flexibility allows full control over cleaning regimes as well as of the design of each cleaning cycle. Four default wash programs may be modified to meet the cleaning requirements of the milking system. These wash programs may be sequenced to create a daily or weekly washing schedule. AfiWash cleaning programs may be modified via communication from any PC or laptop, or directly from the controller panel. Once a cleaning program and schedule has been created, it allows you to save it on you PC and later download it to any other AfiWash controller. Thus, once a cleaning program is designed, the installer may use it for all the other similar CIP systems. Each step consists of a block that refers to one of the designated outputs described above and a timer determining the time for operating the output (i.e. the device connected to it). When setting up a cleaning program, the operation time for each block is set first then the steps are sequenced for a complete cleaning program. Once the different cleaning programs have been created, a schedule for a daily or weekly cleaning agenda may be built. Such a schedule, allows AfiWash to automatically select the correct cleaning program for each session. The greater the requirements on a system, or rather the longer we intend to use it during the year or the more precisely we want to control it, the greater the pressure and the softer the jets must be used. 60 MILKING HOUSE HEATING SYSTEMS FLOOR HEATING Electric heating for milking house floors For heated floors, which have a BAUER heating mat (cable) in a layer of concrete laid on a heat-insulated bed. The thickness of the concrete layer should not be less than 4-5cm. The thicker the layer, the greater the amount of heat accumulated. Direct heating of ceramic floor tiles using a heating mat has the advantage of being a low-lying system (less than 20 mm), can be installed on existing tiles without having to remove them, low heat inertia (making the system easy to adjust) and can be run on economy heating rate D 46, D 45, D 55. Hot-water heating for milking house floors Hot-water floor heating comprises of a set of plastic tubes laid on heat insulation and covered with a concrete mix (anhydrite compound). The system goes with waterheating facilities (boiler) and water circulating pump. The plastic pipes are laid either on specially-cut panels or are woven into the guide rails. They are quick and easy to lay and have a virtually unlimited service life. Insulation is always laid beneath the plastic pipes. RADIANT PANELS With radiant panels the heat is distributed mainly through radiation. Some of the radiant flow is reflected (approximately 15%) when it meets objects (walls, floor), although the greater part (approximately 85%) is absorbed by the objects it falls on. This causes radiant energy to be converted to heat energy (objects get warmer) and when the temperature of the objects rises, or when the temperature rises compared to the air, the heat is distributed by convection meaning the air is heated by the objects around it. 59

63 AFTER MARKET STABLE EQUIPMENT The second system uses separately heated feeding troughs and a water distribution system deep underground where it will not freeze (or is protected against freezing by an 8 W/m electrical heating cable). Feeding troughs produced by Agromont Vimperk have a wattage of 150 to 450 W (depending on the volume of water) and the troughs also have a connection protector on the water mains pipe (heated cable). The troughs are heated by heating cables built into the stables. The troughs are connected to a 230 V electricity supply via a central room thermostat, which activates the heating when the temperature drops below + 5 C and via a current protector which ensures that the electrical wiring is safe (automatically cuts the power when touched or when there is a surge). The advantage of this system is the cheaper purchase price (save a complete central heating unit) and lower running costs energy consumption is many times lower. With larger stables this makes a big difference - e.g. for stables for approximately 200 with 7 troughs the savings, compared to a system with a central heating unit, is approximately 80 to 100 kwh per day. 67 MECHANICAL EQUIPMENT GRIND BAGGER The grinder bagger combines grain and other crops, crushing with the best fodder storage system: the bagging system. On the bagger with a tunnel diameter of 6.5 ft (2.00 metres) we fitted a high-quality cylindrical grinder. Grinding and bagging are now combined into one easy-to-control machine, thus saving you time and energy. Advantage of the cylindrical grinder The advantage of the cylindrical grinder is the marked savings on energy costs, up to 70% when coarse grinding for poultry and from 30% to 50% when fine grinding for pigs. If we consider the structure of the material to be processed, its digestibility, it makes the production of fodder much more efficient, particularly for poultry and cattle. The specially developed grinding cylinders can process grain with a solid content of 60% to 85%. Side-products of the food industry The GB6 can also process by-products such as sugarbeet strips and spent brewery grains. The cylindrical grinder and storage hopper are substituted by a special hopper. This has a hydraulically-powered ruffling spindle which prevents the hopper from getting blocked. TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS OF THE GB6 PARAMETERS OPTIONAL ACCESSORIES: HYDRAULIC MANIPULATORS lengths as a universal means of manipulation. FEED SHOVELLER A new system for shovelling feed to troughs. Greatly increases the feed intake and production efficiency of dairy cattle. The shoveller travels automatically up to 30 times per day along the feeding table and shovels scattered food back into the trough. The shoveller can also flavour the shovelled feed with a small amount of kernels, which further stimulates the animals to feed. The movement of the machine is computer-controlled. The machine is it remains in the parked position and is automatically connected to the charger and charged. The shoveller travels along a rail in a channel; it has a height-adjustable strip which folds back when it hits an obstacle. The machine can also travel around bends and so can be used in two-row feeding tables. 66

68 MECHANICAL EQUIPMENT MB-01 MANIPULATOR The MB 01 manipulator MB 01 is for handling standard round hay bales. It is pulled behind a tractor on a three-point linkage and is connected to the tractor s hydraulic system. It makes manipulation easy the built-in hydraulic piston, controlled by the tractor s hydraulic system, ensures that the bales are gripped firmly and the vertical position of the bale can be adjusted using the three-point linkage. Its simple and robust construction means it is fast and maximum load: 700 kg breakdown-free. The narrow weight: 55 kg width of the boom means inner diameter: 1120mm (for bales 130 cm in diameter) that the feed is quickly put in place when the bale is in the upper position it is easy to remove the plastic from the bottom, and when the bale has been lowered the rest of the plastic sheeting can be pulled off. MILK TROLLEY FOR CALVES We produce these in stainless steel, 130 l, 180 l, 260 l volume, either heated or unheated. The milk trolley is used to take milk to calves, heated if required. The stainless steel container is easy to clean and has a double bottom, on the back of which there are two heating elements. There is a water gauge for reading the water level and a thermostat controls the milk temperature. On the front there is a release tap with a hose for transferring the milk to the trough. A heating control panel is supplied with the trolley. This trolley saves you a great deal of time when feeding your calves and milk is served at the optimum temperature, particularly in winter. MILK COOLING s CLASSIC COOLING TANKS We offer vertical and horizontal milk cooling tanks in these capacities: OUTDOOR MILK STORAGE SILOS The best solution for large farms is outdoor storage silos - tanks. s REFURBISHED TANKS We offer refurbished milk cooling tanks. We have more than 100 tanks in stock in sizes ranging from 500 to 5,000 litres, all brands and all prices. 67
