1 A PROJECT FOR DEVELOPMENT OF GRAPE ORCHARD PROJECT REPORT SUBMITTED TO SUBMITTED BY
2 PROMOTERS PROFILE PROJECT A Project for Development of a Grape orchard CONTENTS FOR PROJECT WRITEUP The project envisages establishment of a grape garden of 'Saritha Krishna' and 'Red Globe' varieties. As a prerequisite for establishment of a grape orchard of there is need for developing basic infrastructure, taking up the required farm constructions, installation of drip irrigation system and purchase of farm machinery/equipments and a farm vehicle PROJECT LOCATION (Rs.in lakhs) OUTLAY AND BANK LOAN Particulars Cost Loan Margin Basic infrastructure Construction Drip system Machinery & equipment Farm vehicle Development of horticulture crops Total PROJECT INVESTMENTS Basic infrastructure The farm requires barbed wire fencing. There is need for land development works in terms of making plots of suitable size and providing farm roads as per requirement. Two borewells have been recently completed to meet the water requirements of the farm. The details of the borewells are as follows: Depth (ft) Casing (ft) Yield (GPH) SIP (HP) Borewell borewell The farm requires a sump tank of 1.5 lakh liter capacity to ensure adequate water storage. Pipelines are required to pump the water from borewells to the water tank. The farm electrification works including the departmental charges has also been included in the infrastructure development. The supporting estimates/quotations/bills for the above items is given under Appendix Drip irrigation The proposed grape orchard of acres will be under overhead drip irrigation as shown in the design and the estimate given under Appendix Constructions The housing to be provided on the farm includes a farm managers quarters, supervisors quarters and lanbour quarters. In addition there is need for a store room/godown for farm inputs. there is need for a grading/packing hall for handling the grapes and packaging it for market. There is also need for a power room. The plan and estimate for these constructions are given in Appendix Machinery and equipments The farm needs a 30 HP MF tractor which will be used in the proposed grape garden. There is also need for a power tiller for soil working and other operations as also for transportation of inputs within the orchard. It is also proposed to purchase an tiller mounted sprayer along with hose pipe, lance and accessories for plant protection operations. A mono submersible pump set is required for the sump tank. As maintenance of grape orchards involves pruning and training operations requiring garden tools and equipments the same have also been included in the project cost. In the bearing stage the grape crop is to be protected through use of bird net and the cost of the same is also included. The crates required for harvesting and handling of grapes is also a requirement. The quotation for these items are given under Appendix
3 Farm vehicle: The farm supervisor is to be provided with a two wheeler for operational convenience and the quotation for the same is given under Appendix Development of grapes It is proposed to develop seedless grapes in an area of acres. The basic requirement for developing grapes is a pendal or a trelli system. In the present project a hut system trelli design with granite pole and GI wire has been proposed. The cost of trelli system including the labour requirement for errection is given in Annexure -21. The grape orchard layout map, the trelli design and related workings are given under Annexure -17 to 20. It can be seen that the per acre cost of trellis works out to Rs.1.27 lakhs. The unit cost for development of grapes including plant material, planting, training, and other expenses for the first year works out to Rs.1.76 lakhs per acre as shown in Annexure - 3 & 4. The total cost including the maintenance for second year works out Rs.2.32 lakhs per acre. The cost of cultivation/maintenance and the details of yield/income are given in page two of the subject Annexure. SUITABILITY OF THE AREAThe area is traditionally well known for grape and horticulture crops. Lands are suitable for grape cultivation as per soil and water test reports given under Appendix Specific amendments/recommendations of soil and water test reports if any Deficiency of major nutrients Deficiency of micro nutrients Any other problem Phosphorus Some nutrients are in excess Soil slightly acidic Note:Suitable ameliorative measures suggested by experts will be adopted LAND RECORDS Whether own land (ancestral) - Whether own land (purchased) Yes Whether lease/tenancy/contract - Proof of title/land record enclosed Yes Legal scrutiny report enclosed Yes PROJECT ECONOMICS TECHNICAL FEASIBILITY FINANCIAL VIABILITY TECHNICAL GUIDANCE MANAGEMENT/ SUPERVISION AVAILABILITY OF INPUTS MARKETING ARRANGEMENTS LENDING NORMS EXISTING STATUS OF PROJECT IMPLEMENTATION SCHEDULE The economics is worked out based on unit cost and economics for development of grape garden as given under Annexure 3 & 4. Suitability of soil Suitability of water Agro climatic conditions Use of drip Margin, ROI, Repayment and Security As per test report the soils are suitable for seedless grapes subject to amendments suggested As per test report the water is suitable for irrigation The conditions are suitable for grapes Drip will help better water use efficiency The income expenditure statement, repayment chart, cash flow statement, discounted cash flow and DSCR calculation are given under Annexure The payback period, profitability, funds flow and projected balance sheet are given under Annexure 13 to 16.
