Job Title: Cell Culture Technician (open June 1 through Oct 31, 2016) About the Opportunity The cell culture lab technician in the Monoclonal Antibody Group at Rockland Immunochemicals will play a critical role as the primary point of contact for the culturing, plating, distribution, maintenance, and banking of cell culture lines as required by the Rockland scientists. Important aspects of this role include excellent organization and communication skills, flexibility, and the ability to thrive in an efficient, highly interactive, goaloriented team environment. As a team member of the cell culture group you will work to support cell and tissue culture activities at Rockland including both production and research and development. The group focus is on growing and maintaining cells, generating hybridomas, screening and identifying monoclonal antibodies and the production and purification of monoclonal antibodies for clients and the Rockland catalog. The laboratory skills and training include expertise in tissue culture, aseptic technique, cell culture techniques, sterile media preparation, mycoplasma testing, clean room maintenance, endotoxin testing. Plusses are experience with monoclonal hybridoma generation and monoclonal antibody production in large-scale cell culture and ascites. In addition to laboratory skills, project management skills and communication with clients will be developed. There are opportunities to work with multiple different projects and interaction with clients on custom projects. Job Duties and Responsibilities: Culture cells across a variety of cell lines, plate formats and media conditions within specifications and timelines provided by requesting scientist (training available as needed) Supply and maintain working and active cell banks Demonstrates knowledge and efficient use of Outlook, Excel and other required computer applications Demonstrates excellent attention to detail, can work quickly and accurately, organizing tasks and delivering quality with efficiency Honors established attendance, break, behavior, dress and safety codes. 2 Qualifications Experience working with multiple different human and other mammalian cell lines Ability to organize and manage data relating to production activities. Ability to work and maintain strong relationships with department managers, members of your team and other departmental staff. Must have ability to use MS-WORD, MS-EXCEL and other MS Office applications Command of English Language written and oral Ability to read and understand Standard Operating Procedures Knowledge or ability to perform STR genomic profiling is a plus Knowledge of QSR/cGMP guidelines or other good documentation processes is a plus.
