4 Chapter 1 Overview We have developed two different Quick Start databases in the most prevalent general ledger configurations and sales/cost of sales reporting setup by our clients. Many of the primary tables have been setup to assist in expediting the implementation process. Records can be added and descriptions modified, however, codes cannot be modified. Records can be deleted if they are not linked to other records or if the link is removed. You will need to setup your company data such as your employees, clients, vendors, security, billing rates, etc. See the Advantage Implementation Guide checklists for more information. We have also developed an Excel workbook that includes the data in a spreadsheet format (where applicable) as a workspace to review and note changes you would like to make to the Quick Start database. It is located on our User Portal at The file name is Quick Start Setup Workbook. In-House Installation If you are a new client the Quick Start database can be found on your software DVD. Technical Support can assist you with installing the Quick Start Database. If you are an existing client, contact Advantage Technical Support for assistance in licensing and obtaining the Quick Start database. Hosted Installation On the Database Creation form, under the Database Creation Information section, indicate which Quick Start database you will utilize and submit the form based on the form s instructions. The two Quick Start databases to choose from are: QSSALESCLASS This Quick Start database is setup to post sales and cost of sales based on the Sales Class assigned to jobs and media insertion orders. All billed labor, vendor charges and income only transactions are posted to the sales g/l account assigned to the Sales Class. All vendor cost of sales are posted to the cost of sales g/l account assigned to the Sales Class. QSFUNCTION This Quick Start database is setup to post sales and cost of sales breaking out time by department and production vendor costs into separate G/L accounts. For example; the Functions of Concept Development, Copywriting, and Art Direction all post to the sales G/L account Sales Creative s. Media is posted based on Sales Class (media type). If this configuration does not meet your company s needs you cannot use the Quick Start Database and must start with a blank database.
