Introduction and XenData offer a comprehensive and scalable workflow solution that can be deployed at each customer site location and then tied together for a multi-site private cloud access to all media data. Media content from camera ingest, any media editing workgroup, and video tape digitization workgroups may be consolidated, edited, encoded, and catalogued on s online clustered storage and MAM. From there, it may be seamlessly archived to a XenData Archive system running XenData6 Server software. XenData Server systems manage robotic LTO or Sony Optical Disc Archive (ODA) libraries and disk storage, presenting them as a standard network share. This creates a highly scalable network attached storage (NAS) device where files are written to LTO or ODA. It allows files to be managed automatically on one or more cartridge pools. XenData System Options Depending on the performance and capacity requirements, postmam can be combined with either a XenData SX-10 Archive Appliance or an SX-520 Archive Server, both of which provide the same functionality and run XenData6 Server software. Key functionality provided includes: High Capacity, Secure Storage using LTO or ODA cartridges Each LTO-6 cartridge stores 2.5 TB of video files and has an archival life of 30 years under normal office conditions. Each ODA cartridge stores up to 1.5 TB and has archival life of 50 years. Cartridge replication The software automatically generates replica LTO cartridges that may be exported from the library for off-site retention. Optimized Restores The system restores a queue of files in the shortest possible time. The restore requests are processed in an order that minimizes unnecessary tape movement or optical disc swapping within the ODA cartridge. Disk Cache Management The internal archive disk cache may be used to retain archived files for extended periods to further enhance performance. This is controlled via administrator defined disk retention policies. Cartridge Contents Reports The files contained on any cartridge, including offline cartridges, can be listed in a report which may be exported to Excel.
