LifeKeeper provides a range of component health monitoring and recovery mechanisms that perform problem detection and service recovery at both the node and the application level. Unlike other High Availability products that only monitor server health using a basic heartbeat mechanism, LifeKeeper performs deeper levels of application-specific monitoring. This way, if the server is operational, but a critical component is not, LifeKeeper can detect this more granular problem and take restorative action that is selective and minimizes unnecessary actions such as false failovers. LifeKeeper provides some of the greatest levels of flexibility and scalability available today for a Linux HA solution. LifeKeeper enables up to 32 nodes to be clustered in a wide range of storage and failover configurations, including greater than two nodes, one-to-many, many-to-one and cascading failover. The availability of data replication facilities to support shared-nothing, dedicated storage environments, coupled with support for shared SCSI, Fiber-based SAN and NAS storage architectures, provides a highly

Total recovery solutions A central feature and advantage of the SteelEye LifeKeeper architecture is its application centricity the ability to monitor, failover and manage as a single entity all hardware and software components associated within a cluster. Furthermore, LifeKeeper helps simplify the way in which complex clusters can be created and administered. Instead of requiring users to modify applications to become cluster-aware, or necessitating operating system kernel-level changes, LifeKeeper Application Recovery Kits (ARKs) provide an easyto-install, modular and flexible mechanism to establish HA cluster environments. SteelEye offers a wide range of individual application, database and infrastructure ARKs and cluster solutions that are tested and certified ServerProven on IBM xseries servers, BladeCenter servers and storage platforms. In situations where users wish to protect custom applications or components for which no specific LifeKeeper ARK is currently available, a generic LifeKeeper ARK is also available that provides a template facility for quickly creating customer ARKs The ability to quickly and easily HA-enable business applications enables organizations to gain the value of highly available systems without incurring the traditional costs associated with system integration. LifeKeeper for Oracle Solution on Linux and Windows [IBM Part Numbers Linux: 02R3087; Windows:02R3096 ] SteelEye LifeKeeper for Oracle provides a comprehensive environment for providing high availability of applications accessing Oracle 8i and Oracle 9i running on Linux or Window servers. For users that dynamically manage their storage volumes on the Linux platform with the open source Logical Volume Manager (LVM) product, this solution also includes integrated support for LVM. LifeKeeper for DB2 Solution on Linux and Windows [IBM Part Numbers - Linux: 02R3088; Windows: 02R3095] SteelEye LifeKeeper for DB2 provides a comprehensive environment for providing high availability of applications accessing IBM DB2 WE, EE, EEE and ESE running on Linux or Window servers. Included with this solution on the Linux platform is integrated support for the open source Logical Volume Manager (LVM) product and Network File System. The NFS Server Recovery Kit checks that an IP resource and a file system resource containing the shared mount point are always in-service on the same server in the cluster. Clients who mount the file system using the LifeKeeper-protected IP resource can continue processing files on the volume virtually uninterrupted while the actual export service is switched between servers in the cluster (either manually or in response to a failure). LifeKeeper Data Replication Option on Linux* [IBM Part Number 02R3089, requires either 02R3087, 02R3088, 02R3090, or 02R3091]

3 The LifeKeeper Data Replication option provides an integrated synchronous data mirroring capability to replicate data, locally or remotely, over any IP network, LAN, or Wide Area Network (WAN). In local, non-shared storage environments LifeKeeper Data Replication check that replica volumes are current, which means they are fully up to date; comprehensive, to include all applications, logs, and configuration data; and recoverable, such that the data is consistent and error-free. LifeKeeper Communication Services Solution on Linux [IBM Part Number - 02R3090] The LifeKeeper Communication Services Solution on Linux, enables the implementation of High Availability protection for application and Web servers. The SteelEye solution enables active/active server configurations to achieve the highest levels of availability, to help keep Web applications running and to maintain transaction states in the event of a failover. Included with this solution is integrated support for Network Attached Storage (NAS) devices, which provides resource definition and recovery facilities for cluster systems that have mounted an exported file system from an NFS server of a Network Attached Storage (NAS) device in the cluster. This kit also allows the use of NAS as an alternative to directly-attached shared storage. LifeKeeper Infrastructure Solution on Linux [IBM Part Number - 02R3091] The SteelEye LifeKeeper Infrastructure Solution provides comprehensive protection for critical file and print services running on your Linux servers. Included within the solution is integrated monitoring and recovery of printers and print queues; integrated support for Samba to enable recovery of Samba file and print shares from a failed primary server onto a backup server; integrated support for LVM and NFS. LifeKeeper for mysap.com Solution on Linux [IBM Part Number - 02R3092] SteelEye, SAP AG, and IBM collaborated closely to create a complete solution for the high availability protection of mysap.com, running on Linux and IBM xseries Servers and Storage. SteelEye LifeKeeper for mysap.com provides monitoring and switchover for the mysap.com Central Instance (CI), including Enqueue and Message servers. Incorporated within the product is integrated protection for database components (DB2, Oracle and SAP DB) and Network File System (NFS) mounts, as well as the ability to automatically virtualize IP addresses so that mysap.com services can be moved between servers within the cluster network with little or no interruption to users. The NFS application recovery provides resource definition and recovery software for automatic switchover of NFS exported file systems. In a mysap.com system, NFS exported file systems are used to facilitate the sharing of vital SAP data and utilities. Also integrated within the LifeKeeper for mysap.com solution is support for LVM. LifeKeeper for Microsoft Exchange 2000 [IBM Part Number - 02R3093] The SteelEye LifeKeeper for Exchange 2000 solution is a comprehensive, and highly scalable solution for enabling the highest levels of Exchange Server availability. SteelEye LifeKeeper for Exchange addresses all levels of high availability requirements, from local Exchange data replication, to local application failover, to complete disaster recovery of Exchange at a remote site.

4 SteelEye LifeKeeper for Exchange capabilities are fully integrated with the Exchange Server, and provide health monitoring and failover of key Exchange components including: World Wide Web Publishing Service SMTP Service Message Transfer Agent (MTA) System Attendant Information Store Routing Engine In addition, LifeKeeper for Exchange protects optional services such as the connectors for Lotus and Novell GroupWise solutions. Through the Web-enabled JAVA-based graphical interface, cluster configuration, administration, and monitoring are easily configurable by the product administrator. LifeKeeper for SQL Server Solution [IBM Part Number - 02R3094] The SteelEye LifeKeeper for SQL Server provides a comprehensive high availability solution for applications accessing SQL Server. Included within the solution is protection for IP socket resources used to access the database as well as all of the disk resources used by the SQL Server instance including, MSSQLSERVER (required), Distributed Transaction Coordinator (optional), SQLSERVERAGENT (optional), Microsoft Search (optional) and MSSQLServerADHelper (optional) With LifeKeeper, data can be stored on shared volumes, or can be mirrored between dedicated volumes, so that upon detecting a failure LifeKeeper switches the database, along with its associated volumes and IP socket resources to a backup server. All the time recovery is completely transparent to database users. Once LifeKeeper switches all dependent resources to the backup server, it starts the SQL service if it is not already running.
