1 IMPLEMENTING COGNOS MOBILE Mobile apps for business intelligence make information available when and where it s needed. With IBM business intelligence mobile apps for smartphone and tablet users can interact with reports, analysis, dashboards and more on the mobile device of choice. IBM business intelligence platform can help IT support these mobile apps and provide the same type of experience to everyone. Mobile workers need business intelligence (BI) data wherever they are to view/run the reports. Mobile users can now access and interact with all of the reports available in the Cognos Portal. Cognos Mobile supports the following Smartphone and Tablet technologies iphone ipad Android BlackBerry Windows Mobile operating system Accessing IBM Cognos Mobile App Users can access and interact with the reports using the IBM Cognos Mobile applications in smartphone and tablet by using IBM Cognos Mobile Client IBM Cognos Mobile Native App (ipad) Tablet Browsers. Deployment Options for IBM Cognos Mobile Native Apps: ipad, BlackBerry OS 7 phones and Android tablets and phones Web App: ios, BB PlayBook, Android phones and tablets Advantages of IBM Cognos Mobile Native App over Webb app The IBM Cognos Mobile native apps offers the ability for users to access their reports while they are offline, making it possible to continue work while traveling or if the device is not within connectivity range. 2 INSTALLING IBM COGNOS MOBILE NATIVE APP The IBM Cognos Mobile ipad app is a free download from the Apple App Store The IBM Cognos Mobile Android app is a free download from the Google Play. The BlackBerry native app can be pushed from the BlackBerry Enterprise Server (BES) or pulled by the user from the IBM Cognos Mobile server. To use the IBM Cognos Mobile Native App on ipad, Install the free IBM Cognos Mobile application for ipad available at the app store and open the Native Client App. When prompted for a Server as below There are two different URLs used depending on the network connected whether it is a BPS or local network or an Outside network. 3 The expected URL is the gateway URLs: a) Office/Local network: b) Outside BPS Network : Authentication in IBM Cognos Mobile IBM Cognos Mobile leverages and relies on the same authentication mechanism that exists in the IBM Cognos BI environment. Users enter the same credentials for IBM Cognos Mobile as they do in the IBM Cognos BI environment. After login to the Native App then the reports in Public Folder and My Folder can be accessed as shown Boston Public Schools Page 3 of 9

5 Which displays the My Folders and Public Folders similar to cognos portal? We can choose the reports available in the folders and run the reports. SOME OF THE FEATURES Running a Report From the Public Folder select a report. For example let us take the report Class Listings By Teacher in MCAS Reports (For Administrators) > MCAS Results by Class folder. Boston Public Schools Page 5 of 9

7 Select the prompt values, for example select school as English High[1080] and Teacher as Buchalski, Alexandra[120418] and finally select Finish. The report runs as shown. Boston Public Schools Page 7 of 9
