The availability of capital is reducing, with pressures to reduce the cost to provide better services and customer experiences, whilst reducing the human impact on nature. 13 EXAMPLE APPLICATION: CW3 LEAKAGE & BURST PREVENTION Real Time Analytics and reports Figure 1: Interactive alerts overlaid on network schematics Requirements Managing leakage and preventing bursts requires a strategy that balances mains renewal (or rehabilitation), pressure management, early detection, surge prevention and good network design. It is important therefore to be able to understand the pinch points in the system as a whole to identify the right interventions as well as to coordinate or govern work on the network. Features SWA brings together a number of data sources not only to identify early signs of leakage problems but also to minimise the causes of bursts and leakage such as fluctuating pressures and high reservoir levels when demand is low. It also provides contextual information in one place e.g., clustered customer contacts, work underway, pressure and flow variation to help analyse potential burst or leakage.
