GSA/Vendor Operations Data Collect and Management NIC/NSC Requirements Telcordia Alternatives GSA/Agency System Requirements Data Interface Business Strategy 6-Step Ordering Process Generic elements identified by Service Model Data Interface Technical Strategy Examined alternatives: XML, ebxml, JOSIF, etom Tentative conclusion: XML-based transactions
GSA/Vender Operations Proposed Projects/Activities Geo Location recommendation Data elements by service model Interface strategy 7
GSA/Vendor Operations Key Input for GSA The ordering process should be modified to enable Agency-vendor collaboration so that higher quality orders may be placed (i.e., don t start the SLA clock prematurely) There is substantial agreement among the agency and vendor team members that the use of Telcordia is expensive alternatives should be investigated. 8
GSA/Vendor Operations GSA Questions Future Systems Business Portal, EDI Format Team investigated etom and JOSIF standards. They not found applicable for a customer/vendor interface. Evaluating use of XML and ebxml Methodology for defining geographic boundaries? Operational service commonality should be a driving principle. When defining boundaries, consider state pricing, taxes, fee boundaries (examples) and the changing nature of the services, i.e. what is offered today will evolve with technology. 9
GSA/Vendor Operations GSA Questions (cont.) How do we collectively improve service delivery, especially regarding the last mile and LEC coordination? Operational impacts need to be considered as part of an overall solution, e.g., integration of Ethernet providers (not typically telcos). 10
