19 Prepare Machines for Install Changed security settings Turned off server firewall Temporarily turn off User Account Control Settings No changes to Asset Manager Database server 19

20 Prepare Machines for Install Turned off UAC due to issues with license key installation Autopass would not launch even when run as administrator Turning off UAC allowed Autopass to launch successfully 20

21 Install Software and Licenses 21 All HP installations use a simple install wizard Easy license installation once licenses are procured Installed Java on all but database server Installed Tomcat 6 on Asset Manager and Asset Manager Web Server

22 Create Databases: DDMI Created 9.3 database by copying 7.6 database backup into restore folder for 9.3 and restarting DDMI Validated web interface Logged in with credentials imported from previous database 22

23 Create Databases: Asset Manager 23 Created database in DBMS and connected it to Asset Manager Created shell database in SQL Server Created connection to SQL server in Asset Manager Created database schema in Asset Manager Copied and converted old database Restored new shell database from old 5.21 database Converted database to new database version via Asset Manager Application Designer Started and connected Automated Process Manager

24 Convert Connect-It scenarios Copied old scenarios to new server Configured connectors to work with new endpoints Set up new scenarios in the Service Console 24

25 Convert Workflows Copy mail.ini file to new server Validate the actions execute properly Schedule a test run of the notification workflows Schedule workflows in production 25

26 Start scans Copied certificates from old DDMI server to new DDMI server to allow agent update Tested ability for DDMI to update agent On development and QA, turned off all but pings and reduced ping rate Turned off scans from old system 26

27 Manual Scans Updated manual scans Tested ability post via HTTP Unable to get manual scans to post via Tomcat, IIS, etc Installed the Store & Forward server to accept scans and forward them to the correct directory 27

29 Lessons Learned License Launch Issue License launch issue was unclear and required considerable trial and error Better understanding of new environment may have led to the solution earlier 29

30 Lessons Learned Load Data Later Loading new data should be done closer to the end Databases had to be generated twice as too much new data had been added by the time we were ready to start the new scans 30

31 Lessons Learned Store and Forward Attempted to install and use web server to accept manual scans Should have started with the store and forward instead of installed web server 31

32 Lessons Learned Prepare for Increase in Data Upgrade improved ability to read data from Linux machines Resulted in inability to process in a timely way Turned off software updates to reduce load Accelerating look at software at managed software process 32
