2 Abstract IBM Tivoli Storage Productivity Center (formerly TotalStorage Productivity Center) provides enterprise-level storage resource management including: discovery, status monitoring, event and alert management, performance management, storage provisioning, replication management, and configuration management. This session will highlight enhancements that have been made to the product to improve deployment and usability, along with new features and functions that position IBM Tivoli Storage Productivity Center as a leader in storage resource management. Objectives: Discuss the Tivoli Storage Management strategy and direction of IBM Tivoli Storage Productivity Center Provide technical detail on the enhancements that have been made to the product for the upcoming release Highlight feedback from beta customers 1

13 Disk Performance Optimization Generates heat maps showing utilization of pools Output Reports & Recommendations Volume I/O statistics (read rate, write rate, cache hits, etc.) and subsystem configuration used to model utilization of host adaptor, controller, device adaptor, hard disk Non-intrusive analysis Generates recommendations for optimization of hot spots Generates recommendations for subsystem consolidation Supports DS8000, DS6000, DS4000 & SVC when dealing with SVC mdisk groups, example SVC CLI commands are provided 12

14 Storage Resource Groups Group storage resources by application, line of business, or any other user-defined way Map storage resources to organizational structure by creating hierarchies of SRGs Monitor SRG health, performance & alerts to ensure application availability Debug application connectivity & performance issues easily by looking at SRG view in topology viewer Enable provisioning best practices by creating policies for SRGs 13
