5 What is Oracle Analytics Cloud? A suite of analytics tools that has two primary versions: Standard Edition (OACS) Data Visualization Cloud Service (DVCS) A fast, lightweight option to get smart, clear visualizations from a variety of sources without building a complex data model Mobile friendly, comparable to Tableau in function Data Visualization Desktop for 50 Users A local version of DVCS, allowing you to utilize it offline if the data is stored locally Oracle Smartview An add in for Microsoft Word that allows you to connect to a variety of sources, including Oracle Essbase Oracle Essbase in the Cloud Analytics leveraging Multi Dimensional cubes to summarize metrics by a specific set of dimensions Enterprise Edition (OACEE) Everything listed for Standard Edition Business Intelligence Cloud Service (BICS) Oracle Essbase Enterprise in the Cloud Day by Day

8 Debunking Some Myths About OAC Misconception: I m not ready to go to the cloud because we leverage MSAD for authentication and I don t want to redo all of our security to use Oracle Cloud accounts. Truth: OAC features the ability to connect to external LDAP providers, like MSAD, enabling users to login to OAC using their existing network credentials.

9 Debunking Some Myths About OAC Misconception: We can t use OAC because we just don t have the bandwidth to move our data warehouse to an Oracle Cloud DB and rework all of our ETL and downstream processes. Truth: Oracle supports configuring a VPN connection between the OAC Cloud Compute Server and your data center. Therefore, OAC can deliver all of its benefits while allowing you to leave your data processes as is.

10 Debunking Some Myths About OAC Misconception: My data model is way too complex to re-build and maintain within the web data modeler included in OAC. Truth: OAC allows you to Lift and Shift your RPD file to OAC and continue using the same models and objects you are using today. OAC includes a specific version of the BI Administration Tool used to build and maintain (and, for those adventurous types, even work in online mode with) the RPD file.

11 Who is best suited to migrate from OBIEE to OAC? My old line: Anyone with new, simple data models looking for a low overhead opportunity to perform analytics. Based on the (outdated and incorrect) notions that BICS was limited by the web based data modeler, lack of enterprise options, and not being able to cleanly connect to internal/on premise applications My new line: Anyone.

12 Who is best suited to migrate from OBIEE to OAC? OAC delivers the ability to drop your existing RPD from on prem to the cloud (Or to build a new RPD file if starting in the Cloud) OAC provides operating system level access for administrators to configure options for enterprise level implementations VPN options are supported by Oracle to allow your OAC instance to connect to on premise applications Hybrid solutions are possible, breaking down the barriers between what we view as on prem and the cloud.

14 Additional Considerations & Differences OAC has gained ground towards parity with OBIEE 12c since general release, but it is still missing the following: Delivers Only basic scheduling is available in OAC today, setting analyses to run on certain days, to be delivered via , etc Still lacks robust scheduling found in OBIEE 12c (no Agents) Marketing Lists, Segments, etc KPIs & Scorecards BI Publisher (A fully operational BI Publisher Cloud was released in December 2017 and is available with any OAC Enterprise Subscription)

17 Import Your Bar File Migrating from OBIEE 12c In OBIEE 12c, Oracle introduced the concept of the BAR file. This is part of a feature that allows you to export the complete contents of your web catalog, security model (including users, roles, and groups) and your RPD into a single file for each export/import. OAC supports uploading this as a Snapshot to the environment to bring all of the exported objects into OAC.

18 Migrating from OBIEE 11g Users Migrating from OBIEE 11g have a slightly different path, but largely still consists of export/importing objects. In summary, an administrator will: Generate a migration script from OAC via a command line process Place the tool in the 11g environment Run the tool to capture the RPD, Web Catalog, and Users and Applications Roles from the 11g implementation Place the resulting export file on the OAC server Run an import script that would deploy these objects into OAC

19 Migrating from OBIEE Final Steps (12c or 11g) Validate Your Objects and Data Sources With the heavy lifting complete, you then will need to validate your objects have all migrated as expected and all of the connections to data sources remain in tact (primarily a concern if you are also migrating data to new sources). You will also want to validate your users, roles, and groups are correct as well.
