1 PI /07 Dedicated to improving vehicle fun, safety & performance Installation Instructions Ignition Switch Replacement for 850/70 Series ipd # , # SUGGESTED TOOLS Torx bit set includes torx 15 and torx 25 Suggest ipd one Tool #T1014 1/4" bit driver, preferably a long bit driver for 850 models Flat blade screwdriver SFETY WRNINGS Read through instructions completely before beginning installation.! 2 REMOVL series - On the bottom of the steering column, there are 4 screws holding the steering column together (Fig. ). Using a torx 15 and a long bit driver, remove the screws closest to the steering wheel. shown in Fig. and C) Using a torx 25 remove the existing 2 screws in the bottom of the cover. S/V70 models- On the bottom of the steering column, there are 3 torx 25 screws. Using a small ¼ bit driver, remove the three screws shown in (Fig. D). 3 REMOVL 4 Once the screws have been removed, separate the bottom steering column housing from the top. The bottom housing can hang up on the tumbler unit, shown in (Fig. ). You might have to flex the plastic over the unit for it to clear the tumbler. Once you clear the tumbler assembly, pull the bottom cover down and away from the steering column as shown in (Fig. ). Note: (The turn signal and wiper stalk have rubber boots that go between the bottom and top covers. Visually look at their orientation so it will be easier for you to reassemble). 5 Now that the bottom cover is removed, you can see the ignition switch located below the turn signal stalk as shown in (Fig. ). Using a plastic wedge or ipd one Tool, pry the black connector away from the switch as shown in (Fig. ) NOTE: (Do not use a metal screwdriver or any metal device to remove the connector from the switch. Even if the negative batter cable is disconnected, its better to be safe than sorry! When removing the connector be careful not to break the tie around the wires leading into the switch behind the black cover. If the tie is broken, or not there, be careful the terminals do not fall out of the black connector. MKE SURE THE LCK PLSTIC COVER STYS WITH THE WIRES ND CONTCTS DURING REMOVL). 4 REMOVL 6 There are two flat blade screws holding the switch in place, one on each side as shown in (Fig. ). Using a flat blade screwdriver, remove the screws from each side by turning them counter-clockwise as shown in (Fig. ). Once screws are removed, you can remove the switch from its housing. INSTLLTION 1 The ignition switch can only go on one way. lign the backside of the switch with the key way on the steering column. Fig. and shows the key hole that will align with the steering column. The ignition switch must sit flush against the screw holes. It will not sit flush if installed incorrectly. 2 Once the switch is in place, install flat blade screws snugly using a flat blade screwdriver. 3 4 When plugging the connector back onto the switch, make sure there are no wires interfering between the connector and switch. Line up connector to the switch and connect. The black connector must fit flush against the switch. Install bottom steering column cover by sliding back of panel in first. lign around ignition tumbler. Make sure the boots around the turn signal and wiper switch are positioned correctly. 5 INSTLLTION 5 Replace the torx screws that hold the cover to the steering column. 850 models have 4 screws S/V70 models have 3. 6 Connect attery Cable. 7 Cycle switch, start vehicle to ensure ignition switch was installed properly. WRRNTY One Year Limited Warranty ipd warrants to the original purchaser that the parts manufactured and/or sold by ipd (the Product) is free from defects in material and workmanship under normal use. ipd warrants that the Product will perform substantially in accordance with the specifications set forth in the documentation provided with it. The above express warranties are made for a period of the lesser of 12,000 miles or 12 months from the date the Product is installed in your vehicle. ny improper use, operation beyond capacity, substitution of parts not approved by ipd in writing, any alteration or repair by others, or any removal, defacing or altering of the identification shall void this warranty. There is no warranty on high-performance or race related parts due to the nature of usage. The purchaser shall notify ipd at of any defect within the warranty period no later than thirty (30) days after purchaser discovers the defect. Should any failure to conform to this warranty appear within the warranty period, ipd shall, on notification, correct the nonconformity at its option, either by repairing any defective part, or by making available, FO ipd s plant, a repaired or replacement part. The purchaser must insure any defective item being returned because ipd does not assume risk of loss or damage while in transit. No payment or reimbursement shall be made for installation, removal, transportation or other charges. The remedies set forth in this instrument are exclusive, and the liability of ipd with respect to any sale shall not exceed the price of the product on which the liability is based. EXCEPT S STTED OTHERWISE IN THIS WRRNTY, ipd MKES NO WRRNTIES, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING WITHOUT LIMITTION, NY WRRNTY OF MERCHNTILITY OR FITNESS FOR PRTICULR PURPOSE. Some states do not allow limitations on how long an implied warranty lasts, so the above limitation may not apply to you. ipd shall not in any case be liable for special, incidental, consequential, indirect, or other similar damages arising from any breach of these warranties even if ipd or its agent has been advised of the possibility of such damages. Some states do not allow the exclusion or limitation of incidental or consequential damages so the above limitation or exclusion may not apply to you.
